GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for Rule of Law Programme for the position of Intern from candidates who are attending a course of further study of which the completion of an internship is an integral component or have graduated no more than six months before commencing the internship.

Preferred Education Background: LL.B (Hon’s), Bachelor of Social Science (Statistics), Bachelor degree in any other relevant Discipline
Duration: 6 months (full time)
Job Location: Dhaka (Field Visit expected)

Pool-1-Intern_(Advocacy and Research Team)

A. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Provide necessary support to Paralegal Advisory Service (PAS) & Advocacy and Research Team
  • Assist in documentation, data analysis, result tracking, report preparation process
  • Secondary data analysis of justice audit, desk research, law and policy analysis
  • Documentation, translation, reporting and knowledge management
  • Other necessary support to Justice Reform Team and PAS Team

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks

Core scope of tasks

  • Support to prepare necessary briefings, concept notes and other documents
  • Translate relevant documents and support to analyse relevant laws and policies
  • Assist in organising National Justice Audit sharing event and preparing report
  • Analyse Justice Audit data and support to prepare presentation on JA findings
  • Suppot to organise JA dissemination events both in national and district levels 
  • Conduct desk research on criminal justice system and prisons legislations
  • Support to arrange meetings, workshops etc. and prepare meeting minutes/reports
  • Assist in day to day project documentation and reporting
  • Assist to finalize PAS in Practice Guideline and PAS Training Manual
  • Assist to conduct beneficiaries’ feedback
  • Assist to tack result and data analysis
  • Provide support in conduction of any necessary study/research
  • Prepare case study and document best practices to facilitate knowledge and learning sharing
  • Assist to track Impact Hub
  • Assist to coordinate Case Coordination Committee (CCC) and Police Magistracy Conference (PMC) process (date tracking, decision tracking, compilation for monthly report etc.) 
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor
  • Travel to districts (if required)

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B -Hon's) / Bachelor of Social Science (Statistics should be one of the courses of the degree)

Pool-2-Intern_Performance and Sentence Planning Team

A. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Collecting data form district level to produce quality information and reports to inform all internal and external project stakeholders
  • Evaluating adequacy of quality assurance standards
  • Documenting internal monitoring and other quality assurance activities
  • Preparing reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities
  • Responsible for document management systems
  • Ensuring a good communication flow between the main programme actors
  • Support Sentence Planning team as per requirements

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks

1. Core scope of tasks

Quality Assurance and reporting
Based on a Data Management system developed by the programme, the Intern will: 

  • Collect the progress reports together with performance team members, analyse the reports in terms of problems and actions needed;
  • Prepare consolidated monthly reports which are measuring progress against particular outputs, to inform about project development for future planning;

Communication

  • Ensure a good communication flow between the main programme actors, in particular, the Performance Officer and Performance and QA Professional
  • Provide desktop services to support the Performance and QA Professional while he is in the field - liaising with the PNGOs facilitating training or monitoring   

Knowledge Management and Information sharing

  • Prepare reports and presentations of materials if and when required
  • Support research and study activities on policy topics that will benefit collaborative programs
  • Develop regular reporting formats and contribute to the reports submitted to the programme, donors and relevant stakeholders

Sentence Planning

  • Support National and International consultants for reviewing documents to identify the best practices of Sentence Planning
  • Support to organize different workshop, seminar and meetings
  • Collect and document information from the relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare meeting minutes and take notes in different meetings

2. Other duties/additional tasks

The position holder

  • Contributes to other project activities and any other tasks as required.

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Professionalism – a solid background in project work and ability to work autonomously, take initiatives and be pro-active. Should be conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.

Communication – strong analytical and communication (spoken, written, presentational) skills, including ability to summarise and clearly present complex issues, as well as to support a fruitful dialogue with Government and Civil society, conducive to the implementation of the programme. Fluent in English and Bangla.

Team work strong ability to work in a team and be supportive to others’ efforts and work

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in any discipline
