The Federation has been working with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) for more than 30 years and also with other Participating National Societies in humanitarian fields mainly disaster response and management, cyclone preparedness, disaster relief, recovery & rehabilitation, Health, community-based disaster preparedness, risk reduction and mitigation, etc.
The German Red Cross, member of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflict, disaster and people affected by social or health-related crisis. The Red Cross Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance exclusive of discrimination of nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven principles of the Red Cross movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross intervenes in disaster preparedness, response and rehabilitation, health, social and environmental as well as capacity building projects in cooperation with international sister organisations within the movement. German Red Cross (GRC) is working in Bangladesh under the integration agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Bangladesh Delegation. German Red Cross of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Bangladesh Delegation is searching for an “Junior Officer- Logistics & Administration” (male/female) for their Dhaka Office.
Purpose:
The purpose of hiring for the Junior Officer - Logistics & Administration position is to support the planning, management, and implementation of logistics and administrative activities. The role involves assisting in procurement, fleet and office management, travel coordination, and supporting finance and HR operations, ensuring compliance with GRC, IFRC, and BDRCS standards and procedures.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Facilitate and monitor procurement processes including tender preparation, quotation handling, supplier evaluation, bid analysis, and contract support.
- Monitor delivery of goods and services and ensure proper documentation for payment processing.
- Support to monitor fleet operations including vehicle scheduling, repairs and maintenance, and fuel consumption.
- Organize workshops, training sessions, and meetings.
- Support in bookings including accommodation, flight, and hotel arrangements.
- Support travel security coordination with the IFRC security team.
- Perform administrative tasks including inventory and asset management and oversee daily office operations.
- Assist with visa processing, invitation letters, and visa extensions.
- Support human resource activities as required.
- Provide support to the finance team on basic financial tasks related to operational activities, as required
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Specific duties and responsibilities in coordination matters:
- Provide regular updates to Manager- Logistics & Operations and point out actions to be taken;
- Ensure regular and effective coordination with BDRCS and IFRC, and regularly participate in internal coordination meeting as assigned by line Manager.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders and vendor partners on technical and project issues;
- Maintain open and regular coordination and communication with the involved BDRCS and IFRC Departments as per the guiding of supervisor.
- Coordinate efficiently with the Finance, HR and Admin team and all field/support staff to ensure consistency of quality delivery across the identified responsibilities;
- Any other job that might deemed necessary by the management;
Duties Applicable to All Staff:
- Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals and the agenda for renewal.
- Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles.
- Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
Educational attainment and relevant experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any reputed institution.
- Knowledge of warehouse management, fleet management, supply principles and logistics work.
- 1 year work experience preferable in a related field.
- Experience of working for a humanitarian aid organisation in relevant field.
Skill & Knowledge:
- Organizational skills, problem solving mind, analytical, flexible, rigorous, with common sense and autonomous.
- Mobility and flexibility, willing to work in the multi-cultural team.
- Negotiation and diplomatic qualities
- Oral and written fluency in English and Bangla.
- Good interpersonal and intercultural skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and build relationships at all levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good understanding of the global organization
- High level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities.
- Training, report writing and presentation skill.
- Ability to priority multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good knowledge of the RC/RC principles, Code of Conduct, Humanitarian standards.
Disposition:
- Able to travel always and within short notice, work outside normal working hours as the situation requires and under stressful working condition.
- Ability to work independently on own initiative and also to contribute as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and work with Government Law/Ministries
- Willingness and ability to learn, flexibility and adaptability.
