A. About Kindernothilfe:
Kindernothilfe e.V. (German for “supporting children in need”) is a non-governmental, non-profit International Child Rights Organisation which has been supporting vulnerable and marginalized children and youth in different parts of the world. Our global head office is located in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Kindernothilfe is among the largest NGOs for development cooperation in Germany.
Kindernothilfe (KNH) is a development partner to organizations in 36 countries in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean. We began working in Bangladesh following the independence of the country. We partner with national and local organizations through a Child Rights Approach with the aim of protecting and promoting the rights of marginalized children regardless of sex, race, ethnic origin, creed or religion. We work for community development using the Self-Help Group Approach and other specific strategic modalities to empower women and address child rights violations. The KNH-supported projects in Bangladesh usually focus on geographical areas of high incidence of child poverty and marginalization.
B. The Self-Help Approach Manager:
The SHA Manager is responsible for overall development and coordination of SHA initiatives within the country programme and high-quality support to the partner organisations in form of trainings and backstopping in accordance with the strategy and priorities of the organisation. Simultaneously, the SHA Manger will participate in the organisation’s Asia regional discussion and development of the Self-Help Approach.
The SHA Manager reports to the Country Coordinator of KNH Bangladesh. The major role of the SHA Manager is to a) steer the technical leadership of the SHA team and prepare the annual and quarterly planning; b) guide the members of the SHA team in programmatic concepts and operations; c) ensure the improvement of women rights and child rights at community level; d) maintain close communication with the responsible levels at the Country Management and the Head Office.
This is a full-time Dhaka-based position, with requirement of frequent travel (more than 50% of the time) to the project areas. It may also require travel to countries other than the home country.
C. Job responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Country Strategy in all dimensions (e.g. Child Rights Situation Analysis (CRSA), administration and logistics);
- Take lead in the development of the Self-Help Group Approach by analysing available information, identifying issues and developing new training modules and revising existing ones;
- Identify potential partners for SHA implementation;
- Orient the existing and potential partners on SHA;
- Maintain regular communication with the existing partners;
- Conduct SHA trainings, including online trainings, in accordance with the latest modules of the organisation;
- Provide capacity building and related support to partners, focusing on SHA but also in other areas relevant to the country strategy;
- Ensure monitoring of SHA partners and projects according to the standards of the organisation;
- Analyse and scrutinise the reports and figures from partners as per the organisation’s formats and templates, give feedback/recommendations, and follow up on those;
- Collect and aggregate information/reports from the SHA Coordinators, conduct statistical analysis and maintain SHA database on a regular basis;
- Report to the organisation in line with its standards and formats;
- Review proposals and conduct proposal discussions with partners;
- Collect and aggregate information/reports from the SHA Coordinators (if there are any);
- Maintain and update SHA database on a regular basis;
- Maintain documentation on SHA related activities in different projects;
- Shoulder further tasks delegated by the senior management of Bangladesh or Europe office in accordance with role requirement.
D. Qualification, experience and competency:
- Postgraduate degree in Community Development, Sociology, Social Work, Women and Gender Studies, Law or related fields;
- 6 years of experience in development work, particularly in community organising and capacity building. Duration of experience may be relaxed in case of extra-ordinary candidates;
- Working experience with international development agencies is an asset;
- Strong understanding of community development, mobilization, participatory approaches, gender and women empowerment and child rights;
- Strong understanding of project management;
- Experience of team management;
- Experience of maintaining networks;
- Ability of managing partnership;
- Excellent command of both oral and written Bengali and English;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office package, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- Ability to work in online working tools;
- Willing to travel to and work at rural communities as part of field work;
- Physically fit to travel to remote areas and work at flexible hours.
E. Remuneration:
An attractive monthly remuneration will be offered to the selected candidate, based on qualifications and relevant experience.
