ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Duty Station: IEDCR
Contract Duration: 10 Months

Contract Type: Contract with IEDCR.
Contract Start Date: Immediate
Reporting to: Director, IEDCR
A. Scope of services
- Coordinate project activity and response at project area or throughout the country on behalf of IEDCR
- Identify, assess, and document the key environmental risks that could affect public health within the context of Climate Change
- Develop methodologies to incorporate environmental data into the EWARS data collection system
- Establish protocols for monitoring and reporting environmental hazards, ensuring alignment with the public health monitoring system of EWARS dashboard
- Support to define climate sensitive disease thresholds that could trigger early warnings for potential outbreaks within the EWARS framework
- Train relevant stakeholders (government officials, health workers, etc.) on the integration of environmental health
- Work closely with national and local environmental agencies, health institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure environmental health data to access in timely manner
- Support the design of the EWARS platform by ensuring environmental factors to be incorporated in the testing phase and its functionality
- Provide regular updates on the progress of the environmental health integration, and offer recommendations for improvements or adjustments to the EWARS framework
- Support the analysis of environmental data and health outcomes, ensuring the findings will be used to make informed decisions for public health interventions
- Report preparation on activities, lessons learned, challenges, and recommendations for future action
- Develop educational materials for communities on climate sensitive disease prevention
- To perform other duties or tasks assigned by Director IEDCR
B. Payment:
The Environmental Specialist will get BD Tk. 1,26,500/- (BD-Taka One Lakh Twenty-Six Thousand Five Hundred)
C. Qualifications:
A Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Science/ Environmental Health, or a related field.
D. Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in environmental health, public health, or a related area
- Proven experience in designing, setting up, or managing early warning or monitoring systems related to environmental or public health risks
- Experience working with governmental or international agencies on public health or environmental projects
- Familiarity with the environmental challenges in the local context (e.g., climate sensitive diseases, air pollution, water contamination, waste management issues)
Age limit: <40 years (in case of experience it might be relaxed)
