Job Context

UNHCR aims to support the covid-19 response of government of Bangladesh by setting up ICU & HDU in sadar hospital, cox’s bazar to provide care to critically ill patients. UNHCR is looking for eligible candidates as part of the HR requirement for ICU & HDU treating critically ill covid-19 patients. staff who will be recruited seconded to Coxbazar sadar hospital.

Job Responsibility
  • Provide nursing care to the patients admitted in the ICU/HDU and perform rotational duties as and when needed. 
  •  Responding to life saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols and responsible to engage in standard ICU/HDU Nursing interventions. 
  •  Explain medical procedures to the patients as well as establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. 
  •  Assist the patients in understanding their condition, medication with dose intervals and other doctor’s recommendation as well as teaching patient, friends, and family to understand self-care skills; answering questions. 
  •  Assist Medical Doctor in conducting health examination including history taking, measurement, treatment, medicine management and dispensing, and collating medical reports and also in performing medical procedure and referral including but not limited to other patient follow up and specimen collection when required. 
  •  Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. 
  •  Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarm, oxygen delivery devices, transducers and pressure lines.  
  •  Monitor patient’s fluid intake and output to detect emerging problems such as fluid and electrolyte imbalance. 
  •  Monitor patient’s for changes in status and indications of conditions such as sepsis or shock and institute appropriate interventions. 
  •  Conduct pulmonary assessment to identify abnormal respiratory pattern or breathing sound that indicate problems. 
  •  Administer medications intravenously, orally, through gastric tubes or by other tubes. 
  •  Strictly maintain IPC protocol and physically available during duty hours. 
  •  Documents patient care services by updating patient register and other records regularly. Assist Medical Doctor in preparing the daily report for further submission. 
  •  Maintain the proper handover/logbook regularly. 
  •  Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Employment Status

Contractual (Six months contact)

Educational Requirement
  • BSc/Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution; and recognized & registered by Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council. 
  •  Training in ICU (at least 6months) is preferable.

Experience Requirement
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in relevant clinical fields 
  •  Knowledge and experience with working in the field and medical emergency department and Trauma management will be added as advantage. 
  •  Effectively applies knowledge on clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, administering medication, phlebotomy, maintenance etc.

Additional Requirement

Salary BDT 1,00,000.00 & Hardship Allowance BDT 10,000.00
