Job Context

UNHCR aims to support the covid-19 response of government of Bangladesh by setting up ICU & HDU in sadar hospital, cox’s bazar to provide care to critically ill patients. UNHCR is looking for eligible candidates as part of the HR requirement for ICU & HDU treating critically ill covid-19 patients. staff who will be recruited seconded to Coxbazar sadar hospital.

Job Responsibility

  • To work for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High dependency unit (HDU) of the Hospital in respect of providing life support or organ support system to patients, who are critically ill and require intensive monitoring. 
  • Management of critical patient under supervision of ICU consultants.
  • Maintaining professional medical standards of practice and competence, in accordance with quality initiatives of the organization.
  • Effective counseling to the patient's attendants. 
  • Capable of doing basic ICU invasive and non-invasive procedures (CV line & ETT intubation and managing ventilation independently will be preferred).
  • Takes an active role to ensure ICU & HDU roster is covered and planned, including balancing skill mix and providing coverage of 24/7. The duty hours for this position will be in accordance with GoB HR policy.  
  • To examine all patients on admission in ICU and HDU from time to time. 
  • To order investigations under guidance of ICU consultants
  • Competence of analyzing the results of basic blood serology and radiology investigations and make basic management decisions in ICU & HDU patients in consultation with consultants.
  • All documents and patient's history sheet and MLC and other such forms as ordered by Consultants from time to time. 
  • To seek Consultation and do referrals to Specialist and Consultants from time to time as per Clinical protocol and Government policies. 
  • To document all administrative related policies and other such documents of similar nature as guided by the clinical Coordinator and general administration from time to time. 
  • To recognize individual responsibility for workplace Health & Safety 
  • Maintain good communication with supporting staffs, colleagues and seniors. 
  • Physically available to attend ICU and HDU cases during working hours.  Strictly adhere to the IPC guidelines and protocols.
  • To take and give written handover at the bedside at the beginning and end of the duty shift. 
  • To rectify or correct any clerical / other such errors committed by the retainer here in agrees to visit the hospital at the earliest irrespective of the next schedule of the duty shift. 
  • To train nurses, paramedical and support staffs while on duty and as ordered by the clinical admin from time to time 
  • Any additional job responsibility will be given at the time of joining.

Educational Requirement

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with valid BMDC registration. 
  •  FCPS/ MD/ D-Card/ DA or similar relevant course students will get priority.

Experience Requirement

  • At least six months of work experience in ICU/HDU/CCU/Critical care unit/Emergency unit/Anaesthesia department. 
  •  Knowledge and experience with working in medical emergencies or humanitarian crisis will be added advantages.
  •  Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. supervision; 
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision; 
  •  Proficient in the English language

Salary BDT 1,30,000.00 & Hardship Allowance BDT 20,000.00
