Chef (International School Dhaka & DPS STS School)


Job Context
As a chef you will be responsible for everything that goes on in the kitchen. Not only will you be required to oversee all dishes from start to finish, you are also tasked with health and safety standards and dreaming up new recipes for the cafeteria you work in.

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Takes care of daily food preparation and duties assigned by the superiors to meet the standard and the quality set by the Cafeteria.
  • Follows the instructions and recommendations from the immediate superiors to complete the daily tasks.
  • Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities.
  • Construct menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings.
  • Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages.
  • Arrange training kitchen staff.
  • Oversee the work of subordinates.
  • Estimate kitchen staff's workload
  • Maintain & records of attendance & leave.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers. .
  • Coordinates daily tasks with the other chef & Cook.
  • Able to estimate the daily production needs and checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Ensure that the production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times.
  • Ensure highest levels of guest satisfaction, quality, operating and food costs on an ongoing basis.
  • Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.
  • Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities.

Employment Status: Full Time

Educational Requirements

  • HSC, Diploma in Hotel Management in Food Preparation
  • Courses from Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (National Hotel & Tourism Training Institute) will be preferred.
    Training/ Trade Course: Safety, Health Safety

Experience Requirements

  • At least 10 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s): Bakery/ Pastry, Bangladeshi food, Chinese Food Cooking, Continental food, European food, Fast Food

Additional Requirements

  • Age at least 35 years
  • Only males are allowed to apply
  • Outstanding cooking skills.
  • Real creativity when it comes to food.
  • An ability to create menus that are innovative and profitable.
  • A deep understanding of ingredients and produce.
  • The capacity to work under extreme pressure.
  • Excellent leadership and management.
  • The ability to delegate tasks.
