Position Objective

DM WATCH LIMITED is expanding its pool of researchers in the following prioritized practice areas - Agriculture and Natural Resources; Environment, Climate Change, Hazard and Disaster; Public Health and WaSH; Public Policy and Governance; Urban Development and Management. Therefore, we encourage researchers to join DM WATCH LIMITED against multiple positions available for these practice areas.

Supervision

The person will work under the direct supervision of the Lead—Research and Knowledge Management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the development and research issues comprehensively
  • Staying abreast of what is currently going on in his/her area of research, using different means such as reading scholarly articles, books, and reports
  • Preparing project/research/grant proposals (both technical and financial) and administering them upon getting awarded
  • Preparing proposals, presenting to the clients, and deal-making
  • Reviewing project documents, national survey reports, and policy documents
  • Conducting studies of different types
  • Providing training and supervising the mobility of enumerators in data collection
  • Maintaining and updating quantitative and qualitative databases
  • Providing research support on key policy areas, analyzing data sets; reading and summarizing existing research
  • Designing experiments and developing research protocols
  • Developing indicators and preparing both qualitative and quantitative data collection tools with guideline
  • Transcribing, cleaning, and analyzing data, and writing reports
  • Interpreting research findings, publishing and disseminating results as scholarly journal articles, policy briefs and other means
  • Drafting policy memos, talking points, charts, issue briefs, reports, op-eds, blog posts, and other briefing materials.
  • Coordinating research projects and providing scheduling, administrative, research, and writing support as needed.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in multidisciplinary research projects
  • Publishing review and original papers in scientific peer-reviewed journals
  • Being flexible to visit respective fields in and outside Dhaka as and when required for conducting any event related to the organization.
  • Attending and arranging events such as conferences and seminars

Educational Requirements

  • The candidate must have a Master’s Degree in any discipline from any university. Candidates having a PhD degree would get a preference, and the duration of the PhD would be considered under work experience.

Skills Requirements

  • Statistical software such as SPSS, R, STATA, Python
  • Digital data collection tools such as KoBo/ ODK
  • Scholarly literature management, reference manager such as Mendeley
  • Data collection tools preparation, field management, data quality management
  • Quantitative data cleaning and coding, qualitative transcript preparation and summarization
  • Draft report writing with advanced analysis and triangulation of different data
  • Technical writing, including but is not limited to, concept note development, proposal writing for funding, triangulation in writing, and concise science writing
  • Research methodology, including, but is not limited to, sampling design, measurement and scaling technique, sampling fundamentals, methods of data collection, data processing
  • Descriptive statistics such as measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, measures of asymmetry, measures of relationship, standard error, confidence limits.
  • Inferential statistics, including simple regression analysis, multiple correlation and regression, hypothesis testing, chi-square test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, multivariate analysis, tests for nominal variables, tests for one measurement variable, and tests for multiple measurement variables
  • Technical skills specific to your field of interest
