Position Title: Intern - USAID’s Promoting Peace andJustice (PPJ) Activity

A. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Provide necessary support to Promoting Peace and Justice (PPJ) team and NLASO.
  • Assist in documentation, report preparation, develop and maintain the knowledge management process of PPJ and the respective offices.

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

The intern performs the following tasks:

  • Assist PPJ team and respected office to organize meetings, seminars, workshops in his/her respected area;
  • Assist file management of the office;
  • Receive clients in the office and register their details in registrar book;
  • Assist PPJ team in translating project documents;
  • Communicate with clients and panel lawyers;
  • Assist with data analysis;
  • Assist in preparing cases;
  • Perform administrative task such as answering phones, filling paperwork, and taking notes during client meetings;
  • Provide support in conduction of any necessary legal assistance;
  • Prepare case study, reports and document of best practices to facilitate knowledge and learning sharing; and
  • Provide any other related tasks requested by respective officer or PPJ team.

2. Allowance: 7000/- (Seven Thousand) bdt per month.

3. Required Qualification:

  • LLB (hons) / LLM students or 1 year of law graduation from any University;
  • Good communication skill and desire to work with the community people;
  • Knowledge of MS Office;
  • Linguistic skill: Proficiency in Bangla and English (both written and spoken); and
  • Pro-active in taking new challenges.

4. Duty station:

District Legal Aid Office, Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, National Legal Aid Services Organization’s Office & Labor Court Legal Aid Office.

6. Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Interest to learn with and from different groups;
  • Prior knowledge of justice system and local level administration will be an added advantage.
  • Only Dhaka based students or candidates are encourage to apply.

7. Reports To:

  • The respective Officer of NLASO in Dhaka for his/her daily responsibilities as the task manager; and
  • The Advocacy and Outreach Component Lead- PPJ as the line manager and need to submit a written monthly report with attendance.

Internship Duration: 6 months from the joining date. Working hours would be 4 hours in a day and 5 days in a week which will be negotiated with the task manager.
