The USAID-funded Strengthening Political Landscape (SPL) program in Bangladesh, implemented by Democracy International (DI), is designed to improve the capacity of political parties to operate effectively and democratically, improve the environment for meaningful collaboration between political parties and politically active citizen organizations, and improve democratic attitudes and reduce conflict in the political parties to help strengthen the political landscape in Bangladesh.

DI is recruiting a mid-level employee to serve as an Intern (Electoral Political Analysis). This is a position is for a part-time, variable schedule employee based in Dhaka.

Key Responsibilities:

The Intern (Electoral Political Analysis) will work with the SPL team to support project reporting and communications. The Intern (Electoral Political Analysis)
will: 

  • Collect information on political, electoral, and other related topics from newspapers, the project’s network members and other sources
  • Conduct research on political and electoral issues in Bangladesh
  • Monitor   newspapers (national and district-based) for political and electoral news pertinent to the SPL project on a daily basis
  • Communicate with the regional offices and collect required information
  • Prepare tables, graphs, and other required annexes
  • Prepare annexes for the monthly political monitoring report as advised by the supervisor.
  • Conduct other activities requested by supervisor  

Reporting and Supervision:
The Intern (Electoral Political Analysis) will report to the SPL Senior Director of Election Programs.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Student of Master’s/Honors in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, English or a related subject.
  • Strong interest in politics and elections in Bangladesh.

General Knowledge of Bangladeshi politics, political parties, and electoral processes.

  • Good command of English and Bangla (written and spoken).
  • Willing to travel outside Dhaka when required.
  • Available to work at least 3 days a week.
