Vacancy: Communications Associate

The USAID-funded Strengthening Political Landscape (SPL) program in Bangladesh, implemented by Democracy International (DI), is designed to improve the capacity of political parties to operate effectively and democratically, improve the environment for meaningful collaboration between political parties and politically active citizen organizations, and improve democratic attitudes and reduce conflict in the political parties to help strengthen the political landscape in Bangladesh.
DI is recruiting a Communications Associate. This position is for full-time employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibility of the Communications Associate will be to support the communications activities of SPL. SPL’s communications function is geared towards scaling up project outcomes by maintaining effective communications with external and internal stakeholders. Under the overall guidance of the senior communications manager, the communications associate’s major responsibilities include:
- Assist to develop and implement communications plan for DI’s projects operating in the political landscape of Bangladesh.
- Assist SPL’s press communications.
- Build and maintain a network of journalists and whenever needed engage them with SPL activities.
- Get media support in promoting SPL activities, messages, and stakeholders on mainstream media.
- Prepare and assist to circulate press releases and media advisories for SPL activities.
- Develop SPL’s press kit templates.
- Support all SPL teams in producing digital and non-digital communication materials, e.g., videos, posters, infographics, leaflets, manuals, brochures, etc.
- Assist to develop effective plans for and manage SPL’s communication on social media platforms.
- Support all communications activities for SPL events like festivals, press events, conferences, etc.
- Assist production of SPL’s TV programs, PSAs, advertisements, round table meetings with newspapers, online shows, etc.
- Manage vendors for communication activities in coordination with SPL procurement/operations team.
- Prepare and circulate timely reports on communications activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the senior communications manager.
Qualifications:
The person in this role should possess the following qualifications:
- Preferably a master’s degree from a reputed university, in communications or relevant fields.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in communications sector.
- Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills both in English and Bangla.
- Track record of expertise in graphic design.
- Track record of expertise in video editing.
- Good at event photography.
- Good at interpersonal communication and negotiations.
- Excellent ICT and computer skills, especially with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, internet research, etc.

- Possess high level of integrity and adaptability.
