The DCA Bangladesh invites applications from qualified and competent Bangladeshi candidates for the position of Education Team Leader for Rohingya Response Programme. The selected candidate will receive 6-month contract with possible extension.

Purpose of the job (Brief)
The Team Leader will have overall responsibility of the education activities delivered to Rohingya adolescent and youth – home-based and in co-shared facilities. She will provide guidance to the team and will ensure close collaboration with other stakeholders and officials in the camps. The Team Leader is responsible for timely and quality data provision and will deliver progress reports as requested.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Planning and implementation

  • Oversee and provide technical guidance for age appropriate learning for girls and women to facilitators and volunteers.
  • Provide support, technical and management advice to the project implementation and to the programme team to ensure that the activities are implemented according to guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Assess and identify needs through consultations with target group.
  • Work closely with the team to design activities that respond to identified needs.
  • Prepare and maintain/update detailed work plan(s).
  • Takes leadership in the mobilization of participants and ensures active participation of beneficiaries for increased ownership and sustainability of interventions.
  • Monitor timely implementation of the education activities.
  • Arrange capacity-building events for the project team members.
  • Ensure that important updates and challenges are brought to the attention of supervisors.

Coordination and collaboration

  • Build networks with local service providing agencies, civil society and likeminded organizations and INGOs in operational areas.
  • Interact with relevant government agencies and other organization for further coordination of the non-formal education activities.
  • Coordinate activities with colleagues implementing livelihood and GBV activities.

Report project progress and monitor project activities

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and work plans.
  • Ensure timely and quality data sharing and project updates.
  • Assist Education Coordinator in preparing monthly/quarterly donor progress reports.
  • Organize and participate in frequent and regular monitoring visits including donor visits, if required.
  • Co-facilitate project review workshop in coordination with project team members.
  • Ensure collection of quality data according to the M&E plan.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise education and skills development facilitators and volunteers.
  • Hold regular planning and debriefing sessions with team members.
  • Hold regular meetings with team leaders from other sectors (GBV and livelihood).
  • Mentor and support staffs professional development and foster a positive team spirit to encourage innovative and quality programming.

Accountability and Core Humanitarian Standard

  • Be familiar with accountability and Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS). Monitoring and reporting of complaints and feedback as per DCA complaints mechanism policy.
  • Be familiar with INEE Minimum Standards.

Staff Management

  • Provide regular supervision, mentoring, guidance and required training to staff. Conduct their evaluation as per the DCA policy.
  • Ensure that all frontline staff understands code of conducts also ensure policy compliances.

Professional skills and qualifications needed in the position

  • Degree in education.
  • Minimum 3 of experience in Education and/or Education in Emergencies required.
  • Field experience with NGO preferred; knowledge of Rohingya Refugee crisis preferred
  • Experience of supervising (field) staff required.
  • Experience in delivering literacy & numeracy training required.
  • Clear understanding of gender, human rights, issues surrounding violence against women and girls.
  • Experience working in emergency responses targeting vulnerable women and girls.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries.
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting.
  • Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with female beneficiaries of all ages, background and diversity.
  • Experience in writing brief narrative reports.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel.


  • Proficiency in Chittagonian dialect desired,
  • Bengali and English required.
