The DCA Bangladesh invites applications from qualified and competent Bangladeshi candidates for the position of Adolescent Girls Officer (GBV) for Rohingya Response Programme.

Overall purposes of the role:
The Adolescent Girls Officer will work in WGSS in the camps and host community.

She will assist in the provision of age-appropriate group activities, skills building, information sessions and other recreational activities that promote support networks and cohesion with adolescent girls at women and girl safe spaces. She will also engage caregivers in describing the importance of social connectedness for adolescent girls. She will oversee and supervise the implementation of life skill and care giver curriculum. She will provide training to youth mentors on life skill curriculum for the implementation of Girl Shine activities. Through observation and regular evaluations, the officer will oversee and ensure the quality of activities implemented by the mentors and share relevant information to her supervisor. She will assist GBV Coordinator for selecting mentors for implementing Girl Shine life skill curriculum, She will be responsible for collecting data and preparing reports and will identify key trends emerging in the field related to adolescent girls and works closely with other team members to address key issues (for example, accessing vulnerable segments of girls, introducing case management, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Planning and implementation

  • She will work with a specific segment of girls for a full cycle of curriculum implementation.
  • Adhere to and dedicatedly promote the women-, girl- and survivor-centred support approach, and the GBV guiding principles.
  • Consult and work with adolescent girls in the WGSS to identify their needs, interests, and priorities, and what's important to them, and where possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of adolescent girls.
  • Provide appropriate assistance to the survivor of GBV by linking them with case management team of implementing organization.
  • Provide training to youth mentors on life skill curriculum
  • Select adolescent girls and care givers to execute girl shine curriculum
  • Support and supervise youth mentors and other team members to conduct FGDs, sessions, meetings with adolescent girls and care givers.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of training activities for adolescent girls participating in WGSS.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of activities aimed at community leaders and parents (or guardians/gatekeepers) of the adolescent girls accessing the WGSS.
  • Follow up to provide the correct information in different sessions with adolescent girls and care givers.
  • Regularly collect feedback from girls and ensure their voices, requests, and opinions are represented during staff meetings.
  • Follow up with girls who require referrals, ensure they have access to information, and link them with services as necessary.
  • With support from GBV Coordinator, initiate, and carry out all community outreach, mobilization, and risk mitigation activities in selected communities.
  • Carry out service mapping of all available services and assistance provided to women and girls by INGOs, NGOs, other humanitarian actors and government agencies.
  • Develop work and movement plans outlining what tasks will be completed and when.
  • Document all activities in an accurate and timely manner using agreed tools
  • Provide field visit reports, assessment reports, and narrative reports to the GS coordinator.
  • Coordination and collaboration with implementing partner organization involved in the implementation of Girl Shine to ensure transparency, consistency, and open communication.
  • Participate in workshops, meeting, and trainings.
  • Any other duties requested by the GS coordinator and the GBV program manager.

Professional skills and qualifications needed in the position

  • Bachelor’s degree with three years working experience
  • Knowledgeable in GBV and women’s rights and experience with facilitation and life skill training
  • Knowledge of Rohingya language will be an asset
  • Experience working with refugees, women and girls, and implementing programs in vulnerable communities
  • Understands the challenges and obstacles women and girls face regarding cultural practices, norms, and society pressures.
  • Understands sensitivities of conducting outreach and awareness on violence related issues.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and without judgment.
  • Emotional maturity and stability to deal with conflict and confrontation in non-violent way and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, ethnicity, and age sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Good communication and facilitation skills to work with community members and leaders on sensitive topics
  • Ability to work independently and check in remotely with supervisor to provide input and reporting on activities
  • Experience in report writing
