Overall purposes of the role:

The Team Leader will have overall responsibility of the education activities delivered to Rohingya adolescents and youth – home-based and in co-shared facilities. The Team Leader will provide guidance to the team and will ensure close collaboration with other stakeholders and officials in the camps. The Team Leader is responsible for timely and quality data provision and will deliver progress reports as requested.

Job Responsibilities:

Planning and implementation

  • Oversee and provide technical guidance to facilitators and volunteers to ensure age-appropriate learning for girls and women
  • Provide technical support and oversight to the project implementation and programme team to ensure that the activities are implemented according to guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Assess and identify needs through consultations with target group.
  • Work closely with the team to design activities that respond to identified needs.
  • Prepare and maintain/update detailed work plan(s).
  • Take leadership in the mobilization of participants and ensure active participation of beneficiaries for increased ownership and sustainability of interventions.
  • Monitor timely implementation of the education activities.
  • Arrange capacity-building events for the project team members.
  • Ensure that important updates and challenges are brought to the attention of supervisors.
  • Collect feedback on lesson plans from the facilitators and provide feedback to support curriculum development.

Coordination, Collaboration

  • Build networks with local service providing agencies, civil society, and likeminded organizations and INGOs in operational areas.
  • Interact with relevant government agencies and other organization for further coordination of the non-formal education activities.
  • Coordinate activities with colleagues implementing livelihood and GBV activities.

Monitoring & Reporting   

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and work plans.
  • Ensure timely and quality data sharing and project updates.
  • Assist Education Coordinator in preparing monthly/quarterly rly donor progress reports.
  • Organize and participate in frequent and regular monitoring visits including donor visits, if required.
  • Co-facilitate project review workshop in coordination with project team members. Ensure collection of quality data according to the M&E plan.

Staff Supervision & Development  

  • Co-facilitate project review workshop in coordination with project team members.
  • Supervise education and skills development facilitators and volunteers.
  • Hold regular planning and debriefing sessions with team members.
  • Hold regular meetings with team leaders from other sectors (GBV and livelihood).
  • Mentor and support staff’s professional development and foster a positive team spirit to encourage innovative and quality programming.

  • Master’s Degree in Education or post-graduate degree in relevant field / Minimum 3 years’ experience in Education and/or Education in Emergencies or relevant field required.
  • Field experience with NGO preferred; knowledge of Rohingya Refugee crisis preferred
  • Experience in delivering literacy & numeracy training required.
  • Experience of supervising (field) staff required.
  • Clear understanding of gender, human rights, issues surrounding violence against women and girls.
  • Experience working in emergency responses targeting vulnerable women and girls.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respecter beneficiaries.
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting.
  • Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with female beneficiaries of all ages, background and diversity.
  • Ability to positively engage with a diversity of community members.
  • Proficiency in Chittagonian dialect desired, Bengali and English required.
  • Experience in writing brief narrative reports.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with accountability and Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and INEE Minimum Standards.
