Overall purposes of the role:

The Skills Facilitator will plan and conduct different sessions for adolescent girls and women where they will learn Tailoring and Sewing skills, Block-Batique, Taidai Handloom, Jewelry making. Additionally, the facilitator will support girls and women with lessons covering basic business skills, marketing, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

Planning and implementation 

  • Facilitate and lead skill development sessions on Sewing, Block-Batique, Taidai and Handloom and Basic tailoring for women and girls in DCA’s spaces for women and possibly through an outreach approach focused on supporting learners to acquire skill related to Handicraft.
  • Design and prepare lesson plans/sessions covering the technical training as well as the business skills.
  • Conduct regular assessments on selected participants.
  • Ensure active engagement of students and volunteers from the community.
  • Closely cooperate with colleagues from the livelihood and education team and stay abreast of the latest developments of the local market.
  • Ensure that activities are conducted in agreement with operational guidelines and are culturally appropriate.
  • Maintain an appreciative and welcoming atmosphere while conducting the sessions.
  • Provide the attendees with information regarding the available services in the camps.
  • Liaison and coordination with local authorities and stakeholders for market linkage
  • Track and report on attendance of the different activities.
  • Participate in ant Teachers’ training to improve pedagogical skill. 

Professional skills and qualifications needed in the position

  • Bachelor degree in relevant field, (education degree can be considered for the experienced person)
  • 2 years relevant working experience in Sewing, Block-batique, Taidai, Handloom, Basic Tailoring, Jewelry making.
  • Previous facilitation/training experience.
  • Understanding of setting up a business.
  • Proficiency in Chittagonian dialect required; Proficiency of English and Burmese language desirable
  • Experience in conducting sessions, ideally skills training for adolescent girls and women
  • Experience and/or knowledge in keeping participants engaged using interactive communication and teaching approaches
  • Accomplish individual and collective assignments given by her supervisor.
  • Have a good understanding of situation of Rohingya population and issues female population faces.
  • Good team working and organizational skills
  • Undertake other duties that may be determined by the supervisor.
  • Due to the nature of the work only female candidates will be considered!
