Job Purpose:

The Driver is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure transportation services for Concern staff, visitors, guests and partners enabling them to perform their job effectively by providing safe drive and regular maintenance of the vehicles.

Main duties & responsibilities:

To ensure comfortable transportation for Concern staff, visitors, guests and partners by providing a safe and secure driving and following national laws for the traffic. Including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring transportation of staff, goods and materials by providing safe and secure driving including weekends and holidays.
  • Ensuring the vehicles is kept clean and ready to use all the times.
  • Ensuring all documents including logbook, mileage report etc. prepared appropriately and timely.
  • Ensuring a safe and secure driving by following speed limit, wearing and insisting users to wear seatbelts.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly checks are done in accordance with Concern Worldwide Transport Manual.
  • Ensuring vehicle performance reports are prepared on time and handed over to the line manager.
  • Ensuring every incident and accident is reported immediately and written report is prepared and handed over to the line manager.
  • Ensuring full tank fuel is collected at every refuelling and is recorded in the logbook.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is parked in a safe place preferably in locked premises.
  • Performing other tasks of delivering letters, parcel and carrying goods to/from the courier company as and when required.
  • Ensuring the national laws for traffic is maintained at all times.

To ensure the vehicles are kept safe and roadworthy at all the times by assisting line manager in performing timely repair and maintenance work and accomplishing all formalities as required by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority. Including but not limited to:

  • Assisting the line manager in identifying necessary maintenance work to prevent major repairs and maintenance.
  • Carrying out small repair and maintenance work as and when identified in consultation and assistance of line manager.
  • Attending the works carried out in workshop to ensure proper maintenance work and usage of genuine spare parts.
  • Ensuring repair and maintenance work is recorded using job cards.
  • Ensuring formalities for tax token, route permit, fitness certificate and registration is done appropriately on time by informing line manager.
  • Ensuring the vehicles is insured with comprehensive insurance policy on time by informing line manager.
  • Maintaining vehicle movement board for any trip and maintenance work carried out in workshop.

As a member of the Transport Team to proactively provide high quality and effective support and resourcing services to staff of the organisation: Including but not limited to:

  • Participating actively in team planning and other meetings, working to set common objectives and goals and striving to ensure these are successfully achieved.
  • Enabling a friendly collaborative working culture within the team, actively sharing information and knowledge to enable the team to ensure effective learning and sharing across the organisation.

Accountability:

In line with Concern’s commitments under the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS):

  • Actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E);
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed.
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CRM, safeguarding and expected staff behaviour is disseminated among programme participants and communities.

Key requirements:

Education and aptitude:

  • SSC (Passed)
  • Driving pass certificate by BRTA

Job related experience and knowledge:

  • At least 5 years practical experience on motor driving in a national and international organisation with medium category professional driving licence.
  • Knowledge on basic vehicle repair and maintenance
