Developing a mobile application for fish market price information and advisory services of fisheries sector
The Rural Microenterprise Transformation Project (RMTP) is implemented by PKSF with funding from IFAD and DANIDA, focusing on extending microenterprise financial services and enhancing income, food security, and nutrition among farmers and entrepreneurs. The project promotes value chain development, product processing, certification, and marketing, introducing technologies like AI, IoT, and Blockchain for poverty alleviation. The fisheries sector, crucial to Bangladesh's economy, faces challenges like inadequate inputs, technical assistance, market price stability, and environmental concerns. CODEC, a partner organization of PKSF, implements the "Production and marketing of safe fish and fish products" sub-project to enhance fish supply chain actors' income through improved technologies and market linkages.
Objectives of the Assignment
The android application will:
a) Create a communication channel among fish supply chain actors.
b) Provide an advisory service for problem identification and solutions.
c) Offer a platform for area-wise wholesale market prices.
d) Integrate weather forecasting data.
e) Provide a prediction-based data analysis platform.
Scope of the Assignment
The consultant will develop the android application targeting supply chain actors in specific districts of Bangladesh, initially focusing on Barishal, Barguna, and Patuakhali. Key tasks include:
a) Designing the app for fish supply chain actors with a user-friendly UI.
b) Enabling registration, login, and secure access to contact details.
c) Categorizing actors based on GIS-based locations.
d) Allowing wholesalers to input fish prices and other market data.
e) Enabling POs and LSPs to generate reports and provide advisory services.
f) Integrating extensive weather data and supporting multilingual interfaces.
g) Ensuring data collection in online/offline modes.
Deliverables
a) Submission of an inception report, work plan, and requirement specifications.
b) Draft report with a demo application and findings, including a presentation to CODEC.
c) Final report within 7 days post-presentation, with reflections on comments and a user manual.
d) Submission of a hard copy, soft copy, and source code, with CODEC retaining sole ownership of the platform.
