Senior Executive, Health & Safety (Gazipur)

Role Purpose:
To co-ordinate, support and advise the Business (Plant & Warehouse) on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety.

The role will be primarily accountable for the followings:

• Health & Safety Management:
  • Assist in inculcating Group Health & Safety (HS) Policy, Rules and Roadmap in plant and warehouse operation as per the guidelines of Manufacturing director or Coats Group.
    
  • Give inputs and suggestion for the tactical development plan for H&S.
    
  • Assist in development and implementation of factory and warehouse H&S long term and short-term objectives, action plan to achieve company ambition of zero accident and occupational illness.
    
  • Give inputs and suggestions for the development & implementation of H&S practices in plant office, factory and warehouse operations.
    
  • Drafting local policies, rules and SOPs and getting those vetted by Management committee and implement those across the operation.
    
  • Periodical review of Risk Assessment, Permit to work (PTW), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    
  • Participate in specifying, commissioning and qualifying new equipment and materials for H&S compliance.
    
  • Development and review of emergency plans, conduction of site mock drill to check the effectiveness of rescue operations, and to create awareness amongst employees and contractors.
    
  • Conducting routine inspection, audit of sites to find out the gaps and required actions.
    
  • Suggesting and sourcing (with the help of procurement team) of international standard equipment and kits to support safety activities.
    
  • Development of H&S training program, module and effectively implement throughout Operation.
    
  • Arrange different H&S related campaign to create awareness among the employees.
    
  • Creating a common H&S knowledge-based platform for all company and contractor individuals to enhance capacity of local management to comply with H&S standards and actively participate in the development of company H&S culture.
    
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended corrective actions are implemented.
    
  • Establish and maintain fire safety facilities across the plant and warehouse operation.
    
  • Participate in monthly management meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
    
  • Arrange safety committee meetings and work closely to close the actions generated from the actions.
• Health & Safety Reporting System Management:
  • Assist to create account and train all management on Coats H&S reporting system tool- INTELEX.
  • Ensure proper hazard reporting, verify the closed actions, verify accident reporting and investigation in the system.
  • Ensure creating proper reporting by analyzing all H&S data on monthly and weekly basis.
• Compliance Management:
  • Prepare the plant and warehouse for international audits, Compliance audits and other applicable H&S audits.
    
  • Assist to close all nonconformance to the company certified standards following external compliance audits (ISO, GRS, Decathlon etc.) and internal audits (GIA and H&S Peer Audit).
    
  • Work continuously on the action plan developed from different audits.
    
  • Assist to close gaps from various local laws, rules and standards (e.g. Bangladesh labour rules, Bangladesh National Building Code etc) by working with Global ENHESA project.
    
  • Manage and maintain factory OSH related documents following local and global template.

Key Relationships:
Internal: Manufacturing, HR, Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement.
External: Coats Group, 3rd party Fire Maintenance Team (ICEL), Government offices (FSCD, DIFE)

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

• Essential:

• B.Sc. in Chemical/Industrial Production/ Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering
  
• NEBOSH/IOSH certification preferably
  
• 2+ years’ experience in relevant role.
  
• H&S Management Systems
  
• Coats H&S Policy and H&S Standards
  
• MS Office, INTELEX
