Project Assistant – Locally Recruited Staff

CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Program Coordinator to assist in overseeing the management of a range of inter-related projects that are primarily operational in Bangladesh, but that also include activities in Nepal, India, and in Pakistan, and other locations in Asia.

The position is based at CIMMYT’s office in Dhaka, Bangladesh, but will interact regularly with administrative and supportive systems at CIMMYT headquarters and in South Asia.

Job Descriptions/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the cross-functional team (HR, Admin, Communication, Research, etc.) as per the project’s priority.
  • Assist the Project team in updating records in project management software in order to keep track of projects' progress.
  • Assist in drafting contracts, MoU, subgrants, partner communication documents, and other project-related documents as required by the project team.
  • Notify project teams of reporting responsibilities in advance of deadlines and ensure communication for timely delivery.
  • Contribute to fieldwork (implementation, official visits), etc. as required.
  • Contributions to coordinate report organization and writing as and when necessary.
  • Assist the Project team in organizing and liaison for various field visits for donors, partners, and visiting scientists.
  • Keep records of official correspondence and meetings with strict confidentiality
  • Anticipate and maintain day-to-day schedules & appointments and ensure all appointments and meetings for project teams are kept and well-advised in advance.
  • Coordinate with the cross-functional project team (HR, Admin, Communication, Research, etc.) as per the project’s priority.
  • All other reasonable duties as directed by the supervisor.

As well as having the skill sets to complete the above roles and tasks, we are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of documented professional experience
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Management, administration or other relevant position (other degrees to be considered if sufficient experience can be demonstrated by candidates)
  • Demonstrated high level of computer skills in MS Office suite (outlook, excel (essential), access, power point), Clickup or similar project management software etc.
  • Prior experience working in internationally funded agricultural or environmental development projects is desirable.
  • Experience in administering logistics associated with applied research projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated organizational, liaison and interpersonal skills
  • Physical fitness and ability /willingness to engage in demanding travel and field work in rural contexts.

The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year, with a three-month initial probationary period, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
