About CHRF
Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a non-profit NGO based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on treatment and prevention of infectious diseases through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different organizations like World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), etc.

We invite applications for the position “Senior Biostatistician & Biostatistician” to join our data management team.

Job location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Employment term: Fixed-Term

Vacancy: 2

Salary range: BDT 45,000 – 75,000/- (depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate)

Benefits: Contributory provident fund and festival allowance (Eid/Puja/Christmas and Baishakhi)

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the project team of biostatisticians and/or (statistical) programmers and share the knowledge
  • Work closely with team to provide technical support in clinical and laboratory-oriented study design, sample size calculations and endpoint selection
  • Contribute to technical presentations/posters and publications of new methodologies
  • Work on significant and unique issues that require exercising independent judgment and developing/adapting methodology
  • Help to develop research proposals and protocols, specifically by determining the sample size and power calculations
  • Clean the datasets and prepare those for analyses
  • Write the program codes and validate statistical analyses
  • Work with the project specific teams to prepare reports and write manuscripts
  • Develop internal capacity in biostatistics via short courses and seminars
  • Comply with all institute policies and SOPs as well as regulatory requirements for the programming, analysis and reporting of research projects
  • Analyzing data, making charts, tables, and other visuals
  • Develop codes in STATA or in R for computing selected indicators
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications, Experience:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Statistics/ Applied Statistics/ Biostatistics or related field
  • Candidates with minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in statistical analysis of data from large, long-term, observational epidemiological research studies or relevant sector is preferred
  • Strong understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and methodologies
  • Candidates with experience in managing demographic surveillance would be given priority
  • Strong command in written and oral English is required

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Experience in database development and administration
  • Strong knowledge of statistical disclosure control methods and tools
  • Excellent knowledge in statistical softwares like STATA, R
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
