About Protibesh

The USAID Ecosystems/Protibesh Activity (Protibesh) focuses on three result areas including i) Strengthening environmental governance and management; ii) Mitigating biodiversity threats and iii) Advancing market-based incentives that promote sustainable natural resources management under the Development Objective “Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards”. The Activity goal of Protibesh is to improve ecosystem conservation in and around targeted key biodiversity areas of Bangladesh such as Haor and forest areas in the northeast and the Sundarbans in the southwest.  

Protibesh Internship Program

Bangladeshi youth bring great potential to contribute to the conservation of the country’s biodiversity. To harness this potential, Protibesh features a paid internship program to encourage young minds to get insights into the conservation and development sector and foster creativity, inclusivity, and innovation. 
The internship program is integrated into Protibesh’s overall implementation approach. Interns with the necessary skill set will be allowed to grow professionally in the fields of biodiversity conservation, conservation financing, social engagement, and conservation networking.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing the Protibesh communication strategy including the Social Behavior Change Communication Strategy to raise awareness among communities in KBAs (Key Biodiversity Areas) and at the national level on conservation issues.
  • Assist the Protibesh team raise awareness among citizens, specifically among youths on conservation issues and gender and inclusion concerns.
  • Assist in developing success stories, audio-visuals, blogs, and social media posts, to promote Protibesh issues for local and global audiences.
  • Document lessons learned and offered suggestions on how to make the Protibesh Intern Team and program more effective.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Communications, Environmental Science, Journalism, Social Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., graphic design and editing software).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Supervision and Reporting  

The Interns will report directly to the Communication and Advocacy Manager. 

Location of Assignment 

Dhaka and Protibesh sites in the Khulna (Sharankhola, Koyra, Chandpai and Munshiganj) and in Sylhet Division (Satchari, Rema-Kalenga, Lawachara, Hail Haor, Hakaluki Haor, Ratargul Swamp Forest, Khadimnagar and Tanguar Haor).

Students from the respective areas can apply for site-level placement.

Timeframe and Level of Effort

The internship will last for three months and will be filled on a rolling basis. This is a paid opportunity.
