Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices (Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet Region). CB is implementing 89 on-going projects covering 189 Upazilas focusing on six main priorities i.e i) Social Welfare for Vulnerable Communities (SWVC), ii) Education and Child Development, iii) Nutrition and Health Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Food Security (ECFS), and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples.

Caritas Bangladesh (CB), Cox’s Bazar office is looking for suitable candidate for an immediate appointment as well as to prepare a panel list for Emergency Response to the Forcibly Displaced People of Myanmar in Bangladesh.

Details of Position

Position : Camp Focal Point (CFP) Coordinator
No of Position : 1 (One)
Job Location : Cox's Bazar
Salary : BDT 117,000 (Consolidated) per month
Bonus : As per organization policy
Job Nature : Temporary

Educational Qualification

  • The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in civil engineering from recognized university with good academic track record. A Master’s degree in Development Studies or other relevant social science from recognized university with good academic track record will be preferrable.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Requirements

  • At Least 6 years relevant experience in development or emergency response in WASH sector in similar position
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills, useful in advocacy and coordination.
  • Networking and a good relationship with everyone
  • Good knowledge in MS Project and excellent in Microsoft excel formulas and data analysis, MS Office is mandatory and any other relevant software will be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to formulate IM related technical requirements and operating procedures
  • Good Report Writing skill.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the RRRC and his staff to better manage WASH programming at camps level through detailed WASH partners coordination and monitoring.
  • Support the DRRO and his staff to better manage WASH programming at camp level through a programme of capacity building of CIC staff and WASH implementing partners. This will be delivered with the support of WASH Sector.
  • Improve the coordination of the WASH response at Cox’s bazar level including effective emergency service provision.
  • Ensure national and WASH sector standards and policies (including gender and environment) are maintained at camp level through monitoring and training
  • To ensure national and WASH Sector policy and standards are adhered to by monitoring the activities of CFPs in the camps and where necessary provide support to CFPs
  • Ensure dissemination of WASH sector standards and RRRC policy and guidance through its network of CFPs
  • To ensure that the DRRO and its staff are fully aware of and trained in all WASH sector standards, plans and policy
  • Organize any join field trips with local authorities and WASH stakeholders
  • To coordinate and lead all CFPs on the ground to implement the emergency WASH response plan in the event of disease outbreak, landslide, floods, monsoon, and other emergency occurrences
  • The CFPC will be the linkage between RRRC and the WASH sector and between field operations and coordination at Cox’s bazar level
  • The CFPC will support the DRRO for taking part of the WASH Sector coordination at Cox’s bazar level and to engage with other WASH stakeholders
  • To liaise with the WASH coordinators of humanitarian agencies at Cox’s Bazar level
  • To coordinate and assist in the development and timely submission of annual and updated workplans as well as delivery plans for all WASH partners.
  • Advocate with the DRRO for implementation of the SDG 6, including household WASH facilities for elders and people with disabilities
  • Actively coordinate with Site Management partners to advocate for more land resources for construction of WASH infrastructure, including solid waste management facilities, latrines and bathing facilities in the areas with few pocket gaps.
  • Work with key stakeholders (Site Management and shelter) to advocate for the development and enforcement of WASH related by-laws including improper disposal of solid waste, construction of shallow tube-wells and unsafe in-house bathing facilities.
  • Support all WASH actors on site safety and security issues (especially in times of COVID or AWD outbreaks)
  • Attend WASH sector meetings at Cox’s bazar. This meeting will be organized and chaired by the WASH Sector Coordinator (WSC).
  • Once a month the CFPC will organize and chair / co-chair a in person/ online WASH sector CFPs coordination meeting in Cox’s Bazar.
  • To organize / support any ad hoc WASH meetings requested by DRRO.
  • The CFPC will be expected to deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as well as annual reports relating to JRP planning and monitoring. All reports should be cleared with the DRRO before submission to the WASH Sector
