Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and nonprofit development organization that has been operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices (Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, and Sylhet Region). CB is currently implementing 89 projects covering 189 Upazilas focusing on six main priorities: i) Social Welfare for Vulnerable Communities (SWVC), ii) Education and Child Development, iii) Nutrition and Health Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Food Security (ECFS), and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples.

Caritas Bangladesh (CB), Emergency Response Program (ERP), Cox’s Bazar is looking for a suitable candidate for an immediate appointment of a Data Collector GIS as well as to prepare a panel list for Emergency Response to the Forcibly Displaced People of Myanmar in Bangladesh project.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably with honors from any recognized university. Education qualifications may relax those who have working experiences in a similar post in the Rohingya crisis.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Requirements

  • Minimum 02 years of working experience in a similar job in any NGO/INGO. (Women will be given special priority)
  • Proven experience working in the emergency setting and extensive knowledge of the Rohingya and local culture and context.
  • High interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with refugees and local communities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in the Rohingya Language.
  • Should be able to handle multiple tasks and manage priorities.
  • Committed to working following organizational objectives, values, principles, and policies.
  • Have good knowledge of safeguarding-related policies, GBV, Child protection policies, and other relevant policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • A GIS data collector should have practical experience in GIS data collection tools, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and other survey tool.
  • Previous working experience in GIS data collection and the local language of the Ukhiya region will be a preference.
  • Update knowledge about GIS field data collection applications will be a preference.
  • Experience in collecting geographic data through various methods such as field surveys, GPS devices, and remote sensing technologies is essential.
  • GIS data collection requires high attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring that the collected data is complete and reliable.
  • A GIS data collector should have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with project managers, project officers, and team members.
  • A GIS data collector should be able to analyze and interpret geographic data, identify patterns, and draw conclusions from the data.
  • The job of a GIS data enumerator may require spending long hours on foot and in the field, so good physical health and fitness are necessary.
  • A GIS data collector should be able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the specific job requirements.
  • The GIS data collector should be able to identify and troubleshoot problems that arise

during data collection, such as equipment malfunctions or data inconsistencies.
