Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices in Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. CB is implementing 87 on-going projects covering  185 upazila focusing on six main priorities i.e i) Social Welfare for Vulnerable Communities (SWVC), ii) Education and Child Development, iii) Nutrition and Health Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Food Security (ECFS), and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples. . Also in cox’s bazar Caritas implementing Emergency Response Program (ERP) for camp area and Host communities.

Caritas Bangladesh is inviting applications from eligible candidates (men and women) for the positions Project Coordinator for the WFP-DRR HC interventions Projects which is based at its Cox’s Bazar Project, Office, Cox’s Bazar. The Project Coordinator will lead and Coordinate activities pertaining to WFP-DRR HC intervention, to achieve objective improved community access to Cyclone Shelters through Cash for Work activities for the target participants at Ukhiya Upazila under Cox’s Bazar district. S/he will work in close coordination with Head of Program-ERP, Head of Operation and Central Office DM Team of Caritas to implement high-quality activities and WFP compliance.   S/he will supervise the Site Engineers, Monitoring and Reporting officer, and Finance/Admin/Logistic officer at field level to undertake Cash for Work related activities as per the Detailed Implementation Plan. Salary Range: TK. 1, 30,000/- consolidated per month.

Job Nature: Temporary

 

Job location: The position is based in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar but 50% field visit at different union of Ukhiya.

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering from any recognized University including relevant experience on DRR/CFW.   
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Minimum 05 years of relevant experience on DRR including CFW
  • Experience in working with local communities, civil society, partners, LGIs and governments officials both in urban and rural settings
  • Experience of working in Cox’s Bazar especially in Ukiya is preferable  
  • Experience and skills in community Led approach
  • Commitment to the humanitarian principles and standards
  • Listening skills; Cultural sensitivity; Flexibility & adaptability; Teamwork; Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire others; to pass his/her skills to others and to motivate them to put them into practice;
  • Ability to adapt various concepts and tools to the particular environment and needs of the relevant National Society.

 

  • Lead for overall project management for implementation of all activities of WFP-DRR HC interventions.
  • Oversees budget management, CB/WFP compliance and program quality aspects with robust coaching, mentoring to the field team.
  • Provide technical support to all CFW schemes and construction-related works (drawing, designing, budgeting including all measurement).
  • Provide technical support to Site Engineer to carry out pre & post-survey and estimate of viable schemes
  • Provide technical support to Site Engineer to ensure support to contractors (mason groups) at Upazila, union and para level
  • Ensure that implementation of schemes is done in accordance with the drawing, design
  • Update the progress of activities on weekly basis to management.
  • Ensure quality of work through effective monitoring
  • Ensure the engagement of local Govt and relevant department for approval and implementation CFW schemes
  • Collect and preserve required No Objection Certificate (NOCs) from concerned authorities.
  • Coordination with PD, HoP, HoO, central DM team, WFP team and respective partner’s representatives to mobilize administrative as well as technical support.
  • Determine all the tools (guidelines, SOPs, etc.) necessary to implement CFW.
  • Establish a systematic approach for technical supervision (scheduling, work planning, reporting, tool design and roll-out, mentoring and coaching).
  • Accountable for monitoring, gender and protection related intervention in that project.
  • Day to Day supervision of financial activities and ensure budget burn rate of the project.

 

The selected candidates will be appointed on temporary basis initially for 6 months which may be extended for future project based subject to the satisfactory performance and requirements of the Organization.
