The “Field Facilitator - Water Quality Analyst” is responsible for ensuring drinking water quality of TWs and also water quality monitoring of production boreholes and water networks regular basis. Responsible to develop the water quality monitoring system for the project. Ensure HTH mother solution standard and Free Residual chlorine value standard in field level. Provide technical supports to field-based sample collection & preserving data in assigned database. Calibration of Equipment like HANNA Conductivity meter, PH meter, Spectrophotometer, Turbidity meters. Ability to use Manifold multi branch filtration unit for Ecoli testing.
It is noted that the selected candidate must stay at Ukhiya Field Office area (Morichcha) as this position need stay with the team and do all the jobs CARE WASH Water Quality Testing Laboratory at Morichcha. |
II. Responsibilities and Tasks: |

Responsibility #1: Drinking Water Quality Testing for Programmatic Purposes |

- Testing of all TWs which intending to be used for drinking water prior to being
- Commissioned or existing. Parameters shall comply with WHO standards adopted by the WASH sector.
- Testing of household level drinking water quality all parameters as per WASH sector standards.
- Testing of water points which is connected by pipe networking as per WASH sector standards.
- Per day need to conduct almost 50nos E.Coli sample from Source and HH level
- Need to test chemical, biological & physical parameters for water quality testing every day as per plan.

Responsibility #2: Implement and ensure Water sampling methodology & Water samples laboratory analysis methodology |

- All samples collected for E. coli testing will be collected after decontamination of the mouth of tube well and need to ensure while collecting sample and need to develop monitoring tool for safe collection of water sample.
- Testing of household stored water to evaluate impact of hygiene interventions such as hygiene promotion campaigns, jerry can cleaning campaigns, distribution of narrow necked containers.
- Use of household filters will be conducted along with TWs sampling at least for the first round and using the inspection of drinking water quality.
- For all physicochemical parameters, field kits using EPA approved methods will be used for testing. For arsenic, an EPA approved rapid test shall be conducted.. Need to ensure proper calibration during testing.

Responsibility #3: Capacity building of staff on water quality sample collection and Environmental Management |

- Organize orientation sessions with volunteer, CARE water quality testing team for collection sample and testing methodology
- Provide tools and guidelines for field activities.
- Make joint/ follow up visits as required and provide recommendation.
- Provide guidance for community level initiative in relation to water quality and Environmental Management.
- Need to transfer knowledge of using the instrument to internal staffs.

Responsibility #4: Water results analysis, sharing and reporting |

- Ensure proper analysis of water quality testing and also need to consult with Hygiene promotion team to mobilize more for community consultation and awareness session.
- Contribute to preparation of monthly testing report as per WASH sector format.
- Prepare activity report, monthly plan, and month end demographic report of testing coverage.
- Take part in forums for knowledge sharing.

Responsibility #5: Coordination and liaison with CARE WASH team, UNICEF, WASH sector. |

- Maintain liaison with all key persons at field level and also in internal CARE WASH team.
- Organize orientation and periodic review sessions with Camp volunteers.
- Regular monitoring with CARE staff and volunteer of on-going plans and follow up on monitoring recommendation.

III. Reporting: |
Field Facilitator-Water Quality Analyst will be directly reportable to Technical Manager- WASH. |
IV. Working Condition: |
The incumbent will be based in Ukhiya Field Office and frequently move to Camp. |
V. Qualification: |

Bachelor in Microbiology/Chemistry.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Water quality testing lab

Knowledge and experience to operate drinking water testing equipment’s
-
Practical experience in Emergency context will give an advantage.

Own ability to upgrade lab facility in a remarkable level
-
Knowledge of demographic mapping software like QGIS/ARC GIS will get preference.

Make technical decision on the subject matter, recommend for improvement for testing lab facilities.

Testing of household level drinking water quality all parameters as per WASH sector standards.

Ensure proper analysis of water quality testing and also need to consult with Hygiene promotion team to mobilize more for community consultation and awareness session.

Compensation
Monthly consolidated salary: BDT 65,749.00 (Negotiable).
