I. Job Summary:

There is a continuous new influx of refugees resulting in an increase in population at multiple sites, which is overloading existing WASH facilities due to heavy use. Settlements are expanding quickly, with many more people still searching for space to make temporary shelters. There are acute humanitarian needs in the new settlements especially for emergency/lifesaving WASH support.

CARE Bangladesh will implement the ‘Provision of life-saving WASH services to the Rohingyas refugee population in the Camp-15, 16 Ukyhia sub-district, Cox's Bazar district’ with a project funded by UNICEF. The location of the project is Ukhia Upazila under Cox’s Bazar district.

The Plumber Mechanics contributes to the regular repair and maintenance of WASH facilities, particularly water options in the camp settings, through conducting technical assessments, identifying key issues, planning to repair those facilities, and supervising the community volunteers, pump operators, tube well machines, and other volunteers. The main responsibility of the position/post to keep continuing different Kinds of DTWS, STWS, and Submersible Pump Pipe Networking System and Preparing update Report Which Situated in Storeroom. Along with Ensuring different kinds of Goods Exits and Entry Register is the basic work for this Section. He or she will live outside the comps, and this position is field based 100% in the camps and host community.
II. Responsibilities and Tasks: % of Time
Responsibility # 1: Supervising Water Supply and Submersible Pump Pipe Networking 30%
  • To Maintain Regular Water Supply System and Entry all kinds of Register.
  • To Measure Chlorination System in Every Tap Stand, House Hold Level and Source .
  • Always Keeping Clean and Clear Tap Stand Side.
  • Regular Wash and Cleaning around the Pump room and Pump Side.
  • Frequently visit in the blocks.
  • Identify the non-function Water options.
  • Instant Repair if any Pipe Leakage or Damage.
  • Should be Capability to operate the Generator and Welding Machine.
 
Responsibility # 2: Knowing Basic Knowledge About all Goods who used in Pipe Networking and       Submersible Pump 20%
  • If any Tap Stand Damage, When Takes Necessary Step to overcome this Problem and Preparing Materials List.
  • Capability of using HDPE Pipe Fitting and Welding.
  • Capability to drive But fusion Machine and Welding Machine.
  • Prepared the Demand for Repairing Materials.
  • To ability of problem identification.
 
Responsibility # 3: Ensure all Water option Function in the Camp Level and adjacent host Community 30 %
  • Having the Knowledge Which use in Camp Level.
  • Identify the non-function water option.
  • Identify the cause of nonfunctional Deep Tube Wells.
  • Which Materials use in DTWS, STWS, Having the Primary Knowledge of all this Materials and Capable to Repair this.
  • Where use which parts and all kinds of Knowledge.
  • Regular Keep Clean and Clear Tap Stand and Solar Panel Side.
 
Responsibility # 4:  Coordination and monitoring along with others activities 20 %
  • To Prepare Daily Work Plan and inform Supervisor.
  • Communication With Beneficiaries and User group.
  • Which Materials use in SMP Pump Rooms always Supervise This Materials.
  • Regular updating Register system.
  • Without Entry any materials/Parts Exit is not Allowed.
  • Monthly Report Submit about Storeroom.
  • Supervising for SMP Materials/Parts Safety.
  • Provide a support as per requirement of infrastructure officer
 
Responsibility # 5 Adhere to and support CARE Bangladesh’s Safety and Security policy and systems
As part of this role, the job holder will be expected to adhere to and support CARE Bangladesh’s Safety and Security policy and systems as part of their day-to-day duties, and comply, at all times, to safety & security protocols and directives, including reporting. Based in Camps 15 &16 and required spending approximately 100 % time in field.
V. Qualifications:
Education/training:
  • Secondary School Certificate education/Diploma Engineer (Diploma Engineer will get preference)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in WASH facilities rehabilitation, operation- maintenance and plumbing jobs.
  • Knowledge and experience to operate- Maintenance of WASH Facilities.
  • Practical experience in Emergency context will give an advantage.
  • Own ability to upgrade lab facility in a remarkable level.
