The Collective Impact on Future of Work in Bangladesh Project will support women working in the Readymade Garment (RMG) sector to strengthen their resilience capacities to cope with the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a continuation of the ongoing project “Future of Work for female garment workers in Bangladesh: Action for resilient and secured pathways”. The current phase will provide the foundation for the forthcoming scenario planning for upcoming phase of collective impact initiative. The previous intervention was served a greater number of RMG women workers, children, men and women, supporting them to absorb and recover from the shocks and loses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The overall goal of the project is to increase resilience of female workers to respond to changing contexts within the workplace and communities. We intended around 11,000 women will have greater capacity to respond to and recover from future and current adverse impact on livelihood. This program is implemented under the program on dignified work which aims to create dignified work for all women. This thematic program implements mutiple projects on capacity building of workers and the entire eco system with in the RMG sector.

Currently CARE is looking for a Psychosocial Counselor for its Collective Impact on Future of Work in Bangladesh Project in Gazipur with assistance targeted at Readymade Garments Workers (RMG). She will be supporting the implementation projects on collective impact project in RMG women worker through Women Friendly Space of CARE Bangladesh. She will be responsible for helping RMG women workers more quickly through supporting quality implementation of project closely GBV and health services providers and other relevant sectors. The candidate is expected to have demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing Gender, GBV and protection projects in responding, recovering and mitigating impacts of COVID19 in RMG sector. Psychosocial Counselor will be responsible for helping RMG women workers to recover more quickly through supporting quality implementation of GBV referral and linkage with other government and non-government interventions in the project areas.

II.  Responsibilities and Tasks:

Responsibility # 1: Counselling

40%

  • Actively promotes the availability of counselling services.
  • Work closely with GBV service and local providers for stranger GBV referral, linkage, and para legal counseling.
  • Conducts individual and group counselling for Women Garments Factory workers and their family members.
  • Work with the team for assessing the need of PSS service in the community.
  • Conducting Group Awareness Session.
  • Conduct couple workshop.
  • Gender norm change activity event.
  • Conducting Psychological First Aid session.
  • Contributes to the quality, timely and effective implementation of PSS. services in projects on Gender, GBV and protection.

 

Responsibility # 2: Documentation, Monitoring and Reporting & Coordination, Representation & Network Development.

  • Documents PSS activities, coordination meetings and other activities related to the project.
  • Keeps systematic records of work and maintains confidentiality.
  • Support the monitoring and collecting feedback from beneficiaries/stakeholders on the project to inform project implementation.
  • In coordination with project officer for monitoring targets and indicators
  • Develops work plans and reports of activities.
  • Provides weekly, monthly and periodic counselling reports to the Project Manager.

 

Responsibility # 3: continuing education & Support Capacity Building Actions

20%

  • Takes active part in community and center-based trainings, session and campaign.
  • Discusses difficulties and problems in counselling with project Manager.
  • Organize and support the conduct of capacity building activities with WFS facilitators & Project Manager and team leader.
  • Support the facilitation workshops, training on gender, GBV and protection. 
  • Feedback any identified capacity building needs of field staff on PFA, gender, GBV and protection;

 

Responsibility # 4: Other Activities

10%

  • Participate in meetings and activities at the community level as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties as and when required.   

 

Responsibility #5: Security

 

As part of this role, the job holder will be expected to adhere to and support CARE Bangladesh’s Safety and Security policy and systems as part of their day-to-day duties, and comply, at all times, to safety & security protocols and directives, including reporting. Staff must maintain situational and self – awareness and be aware of the safety – security related consequences of their actions upon themselves, their team and the organization as a whole.

III. Reporting:  

The Psychosocial Counsellor will directly report to the Project Manager and keep close contact with other project team members. 

IV. Working Condition:  

Based in Gazipur/Bhaluka with extensive visit in Women friendly spaces.

V. Qualifications:  

Education/training:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Psychology, social sciences, development and humanitarian studies, social work other relevant subject area or a combination of significant management and provision of Gender, GBV and Protection in humanitarian and development contexts.
Experience & Technical Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in providing PSS services of emergency projects, especially in Gender, GBV and Protection prevention and response programming.
  • Practical field experience in GBV in emergencies, women and girl’s protection, psychosocial programming in emergency or development contexts.
    Strong knowledge of Gender, GBV and Protection in humanitarian contexts.
  • Has experience designing and delivering training to several different stakeholders.
  • Practical experience in training and/or facilitation of groups.
  • Well-developed text writing skills and demonstrated skills in developing training curriculums and manuals that are adapted to local contexts and target audiences.
  • Strong participatory training and/or facilitation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively, including the ability to advocate for and explain difficult psychosocial issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of English is required with strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office package.
