Breaking the Silence (BTS) is a non-profit, non-political organization which began its journey in 1994 with the aim of stopping sexual abuse of children and creating a secure and child-friendly environment in Bangladesh. The organization is going to implement a project named ‘Accessing Learning Opportunities to the Young Adolescents and Livelihood Options for Women (ALOY-ALOW)’ at Sreemangal and Kamolganj under Moulvibazar district. The project will be implemented by the support of ‘Education and Development Foundation-Educo’ and financed by ‘Child Fund Korea’. BTS is going to recruit the following position of ALOY-ALOW project.

Report to Project Coordinator and Head of Finance
Tenure of Services Contract 3 (three) month probation period. After successful completion of the probation period, based on performance of the staff and recommendation from the supervisor, the post may be continued till project’s lifetime.

Job summary:

  • Assist the team by providing efficient financial data management through the sortwared used by the partners for the achievement of overall objective of ALOY-ALOW Project.
  • Closely work with Project Coordinator, ALOY-ALOW and other staffs for smooth day-to-day payment process and sharing required financial data.
  • Deal with external vendors for various types of payment.
  • Check the documents make cheque requisition, update monthly basis data entry in Accounting Software system and ensure all the bank payment related document are documented properly.

Responsibilities:

  • Checking the accuracy of the cost centres of the bills before making cheque requisition.
  • Checking the accuracy of the activity mentioned in the bills before entering the data into the execution template.
  • Prepare monthly fund request to BTS head office.
  • Assist to manage the financial transactions in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the preparation of financial reports as required
  • Lead Process payments and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure all journal vouchers are complete, accurate, and relevant.
  • Prepare Tax and VAT challan and ensure proper record and documentation of these challans.
  • Ensure Monthly utility bills payments processing such as (electricity, water, telephone, security, repairs& maintenance).
  • Ensure logistical support of office.
  • Communication with the concern project person to ensure accurate bills and vouchers.
  • Communicate with different vendors for cheque handover.

Essential qualifications

Education: Post graduate in Business Studies/ Accounting/Administration. Educational qualification will be considered with the experienced person
Work experience: 2 to 3 years of working experience in Accounts department, preferably in a National / International NGO. Required experience in Data Entry, Reporting, Documentation etc.
Knowledge and Practice Child rights-based approach
Country's Tax and Value add Tax related laws.
Languages Bangla & English (Speaking, Listening and Writing)
Office Software M.S. Word, M.S. Excel, and Accounting software.
