Breaking the Silence (BTS) is a non-profit, non-political organization which began its journey in 1994 with the aim of stopping sexual abuse of children and creating a secure and child-friendly environment in Bangladesh. The organization is going to implement a project named ‘Accessing Learning Opportunities to the Young Adolescents and Livelihood Options for Women (ALOY-ALOW)’ at Sreemangal and Kamolganj under Moulvibazar district. The project will be implemented by the support of ‘Education and Development Foundation-Educo’ and financed by ‘Child Fund Korea’. Tenure of Services Contract 3 (three) months probation period. After successful completion of the probation period, based on performance of the staff and recommendation from the supervisor, the post may be continued till project’s lifetime.

Job summary:

The PO will play vital role in mobilizing communities in assistance with Community Mobilizer during and after establishment of ECD centres, assist in selecting ECD facilitators and Community Mobilizer.The PO will supervise the activities implemented in the area and provide required support to ensure quality result, maintain good relation with community for ensuring engagement of community, explore for establishing linkage with different organization and maintain regular relation with counterparts.

The Project Officer will ensure accuracy of implementing the activity according to the planning, ensure dead line of deliverables of AnnualOperating plan and budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize the information of community people and assess potentialities of the community by analyse the socio economic, cultural condition of the community
  • Facilitate establishing ECD centre in the Tea garden and Haor. Enhance capacity of Centre management committee and SMC. Facilitate formation of student council in primary school.
  • Assess the capacity and the scope of youth and the women of the community.
  • Prepare action plan for effective execution of the project activities like parenting, kitchen gardening, nutrition sessions.
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of planned and approved activities.
  • Facilitate capacity development of‘ Panchayat’, youth group other committees to be more responsible for their roles
  • Support the community to acquire required services of the local government allocated for the community through negotiation.
  • Enhance capacity of the community people for ensuring safe community for the children.
  • Build link with respective government, tea garden authorities, local and international organization working in the community.
  • Provide required data and information to the immediate supervisor.

Essential qualifications

Education: Postgraduate from reputed university Social science, Development Studies and Education). Educational qualification will be considered with the experienced person
Work experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in Program/project implementation, preferably in a National / International NGO.
  • Proven working history of Community Engagement, WASH, Gender, youth engagement, Livelihood, child rights and protection, and education highly required
Knowledge and Practice
  • Child rights-based approach
  • Country's related policies and laws,
  • Well acquainted about local government structure and their services
Languages Bangla & English (Speaking, Listening and Writing)
Office Software MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
