About BSREA
The Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA) is a leading national industry platform dedicated to promoting sustainable and renewable energy development in Bangladesh. BSREA works through policy advocacy, market facilitation, stakeholder engagement, research, and knowledge generation to accelerate the country’s transition toward clean and sustainable energy systems.

BSREA is currently implementing a multi-year donor-funded program aimed at strengthening the renewable energy ecosystem in Bangladesh. To support this initiative, BSREA invites applications from qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Policy & Research Officer.

Position Objective
The Policy & Research Officer will lead BSREA’s research, policy analysis, and donor reporting functions by producing high-quality analytical outputs, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and supporting evidence-based advocacy for Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research on renewable energy policies, market dynamics, financing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks
  • Analyze national and global energy transition trends and develop actionable policy recommendations
  • Prepare donor-required technical and narrative reports, including periodic progress reports, Annual Grant Reviews (AGR), and final program reports
  • Develop knowledge products such as policy briefs, white papers, analytical reports, and presentations for stakeholders
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops, consultations, and high-level meetings through preparation of briefing notes and technical inputs
  • Establish and maintain a structured knowledge management system, including databases of sector data, reports, and publications
  • Ensure systematic documentation of program achievements and sector developments in alignment with donor requirements
  • Provide evidence-based policy and advocacy support through data interpretation and sector intelligence
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of outputs

Deliverables

  • Preparation of major analytical and policy reports
  • Development of multiple policy briefs and knowledge products
  • Timely submission of all donor reports without delay
  • Fully organized, traceable, and audit-ready documentation systems
  • High-quality contributions to institutional knowledge and advocacy outputs

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Master's degree in Energy, Economics, Public Policy, Environment, or a related discipline
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in research, policy, or development sector work
  • Strong analytical and research capability
  • Excellent English writing and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and data analysis tools, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with donor-funded projects will be considered an advantage
  • Familiarity with Bangladesh's renewable energy sector is highly desirable
  • Skills in data visualization and presentation tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder coordination skills

Compensation

  • Monthly gross salary: BDT 50,000 – 60,000 (inclusive of all benefits)
  • Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and budget availability.

Contract Duration

  • Initial contract period: 3 years
  • Renewable based on performance evaluation, organizational requirements, and continuation of funding.

Additional Conditions

  • Six (6) months' probation period will apply
  • The role may require travel within Bangladesh as needed
