Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) seeks a highly motivated economist to join its Dhaka office at the British High Commission as an Economic Adviser. This role presents an exciting opportunity to provide economic analysis and evidence to design and implement FCDO’s development programmes in Bangladesh. The Economic Adviser will guide the implementation of a £17m economic policy programme, working with implementing partners, government agencies and subject matter experts. They will also inform and shape the work of other development programmes in the portfolio, including financial sector, education, climate change, environment and governance. There will be a direct engagement with top officials of the Bangladesh government, bilateral and multilateral development agencies, think tanks and the private sector to discuss policy issues. The role requires conceptual clarity of economic principles, ability to apply economics to address policy problems and familiarity with high quality research evidence. The incumbent must also have a positive, friendly, can-do attitude and be a team player. |
