The British High Commission in Dhaka is looking to recruit a Deputy Director of Trade & Investment in the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). As part of a strengthened bilateral trade relationship between the UK and Bangladesh, the DBT at the British High Commission works to increase UK exports to Bangladesh, support British investments in the country and encourage greater inward investment from the UK. The Deputy Director of DBT will play a leading role in supporting the management of the team’s multi-sector approach and driving delivery against ambitious trade policy and export win target. The role involves supervising regular events and liaison with internal and external stakeholders to build a strong network of public and private sector linkages.
The successful candidate will support the Director of Trade and Investment on work relating to annual Business Planning, visiting ministerial and official delegations, and charting the UK’s trade and investment offer to Bangladesh. They will also work with the British Business Group (BBG) to ensure it champions the cause of British businesses in Bangladesh.
As a leadership role, the candidate will deputise for the Director in their absence, including representing the team in DBT HQ and regional meetings.
