JOB OPPORTUNITY
Position: Research Assistant
Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), BRAC University (BRACU) is looking for a Research Assistant for the project titled “Addressing climate change and plastic waste in Bangladesh’s garment industry from a global value chain perspective”, funded by the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC).
Major Responsibilities:
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data on waste recycling and waste management through field work.
- Participation and documentation (meeting minutes, monitoring report, field notes, etc.) of project events, project meetings, workshops, training, etc.
- Provide logistic and administrative support for field visits and any project events.
- Maintaining regular communication with PhD students, partner institutions, waste recyclers, field enumerators, and relevant actors of the project.
- Arrange travels of project employees at national and international conferences and events
- Conducting literature reviews of plastic waste recycling from different sources
- Any other project related/other institutional tasks as assigned by the Centre.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree from a recognized university, preferably with a thesis, in a related discipline such as finance, environmental science, economics, sociology, anthropology, development studies and other social sciences.
- 2-3 years of experience in research, administration and communication.
- Have keen interest in organizing field visits and have previous field work experience
- Orientation with research methodologies such as ethnography, 5S observations, river-of-life interviews, and survey questionnaire.
- Basic knowledge on waste management and waste recycling in Bangladesh.
- Ideas of using SPSS/ STATA/ Nvivo/ Kobo Toolbox/ Open Data Kit (ODK).
- Must be proficient in Bangla typing (Avro/ Bijoy).
- Preferably have experience in translation and transcribing.
- Preferably have experience in budget tracking and event management.
- Candidates must have sound knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Good analytical ability, and excellent speaking and writing skills in English and Bangla.
