BRAC Bank’s Retail Lending department spearheads the Bank’s focus on retail loan penetration, and provides a wide basket of loans, including home loans, car loans, personal loans and cash-secured loans. Bank’s retail lending portfolio increased by 12% to reach BDT 47,564 million at the end of 2019. BDT 2,500 million growth in net retail loans was contributed majorly by personal loans growth. Bank’s retail NPL number belongs to the highest rank across industry, which also demonstrates a high-quality personal loan book.

Head of Retail Lending is responsible for the overall business strategy, product and pricing management, compliance & control, and people development pertinent to retail lending products. The role will report to Head of Retail Banking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategy & Business Planning:

  • Develop and execute the agreed business strategy to grow lending portfolio;
  • Define lending business strategy, covering market landscape, 5-year plan, target segment, key business drivers, and operating plans for growth;
  • Co-work with Distribution Network, Retail Credit, Finance and Operations to ensure an aligned strategic priority, risk appetites and target segment approach to optimize business opportunities;

2. Product Management:

  • Manage/enhance existing lending products and related processes to achieve maximized performance and efficiency, and improve customers' experience. Develop new products and initiatives, pricing, acquisition/portfolio campaigns to diversify sales origination channels;
  • Product profitability via P&L and pricing management;
  • Product system, SOP and process improvements;
  • Product marketing collaterals implementation;
  • Product and campaigns implementation and performance management;
  • Product costs and marketing efficiencies management;
  • Monthly market competitors research and survey.

3. Sales Management:

  • Achieve asset growth and profitability targets set for lending products;
  • Develop and execute channel strategy to improve acquisition performance and improve sales productivity;
  • Develop digital channel and external alliance partnership to expand sales origination opportunities;
  • Conduct regular sales review with Sales Head and Team Leaders to review sales performance and activities by channel / by geography;
  • Ensure a solid governance and control structure in place and create a positive and healthy sales culture.

4. Compliance and Control:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and controls as set by the bank and external regulatory authorities.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Finance, Economics or Engineering) in relevant discipline;
  • 12+ years proven track record in managing sales managers, and sales management in the financial services or banking industry;
  • A combination of sales management and retail lending product management experience is preferred;
  • Sound understanding of financial planning, deposits and retail lending products as well as loan operations;
  • Good knowledge of current practice and compliance standards in the financial service industry;
  • Knowledge of financial costing including P&L management;
  • Knowledge of business marketing strategies and techniques.

SKILLS

  • Excellent general management, analysis, negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership, people management and organizational development skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate in a team-oriented and collaborative work environment, and promote, foster and build a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
