  Position  

Position: Project Officer, Climate Change Programme (CCP), BRAC (Project Staff).

JOB PURPOSE:
The Project Officer – Climate Adaptive Agriculture will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of climate-resilient agricultural initiatives aimed at enhancing farmers’ productivity, sustainability, and resilience to climate change. The role will contribute to promoting innovative, climate-smart farming practices, facilitating community engagement, and ensuring effective coordination with stakeholders to scale up adaptive solutions for sustainable livelihoods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the implementation of climate-smart and adaptive agricultural initiatives at field level to promote sustainable and resilient farming practices.
  • Facilitate capacity-building activities for farmers, extension workers, and community groups on climate-resilient technologies and practices.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project progress, identify challenges, and provide technical guidance to ensure quality implementation.
  • Assist in designing and demonstrating improved crop, water, and soil management techniques suited to local climate conditions.
  • Coordinate with local government institutions, research organizations, and private sector partners to strengthen project impact and sustainability.
  • Collect, analyze, and document field data and success stories for learning, reporting, and knowledge-sharing purposes.
  • Support community mobilization and awareness-raising activities to promote inclusive participation of smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth.
  • Ensure effective utilization of project resources and compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of periodic progress reports, case studies, and technical documents.
  • Promote innovation and continuous learning by identifying and piloting context-specific climate adaptation solutions.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable farming systems, and natural resource management.
  • Proven experience in community engagement, field facilitation, and working with smallholder farmers.
  • Skills in data collection, monitoring, and reporting using digital tools or field-based systems.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
  • Willingness to undertake frequent field visits to remote project locations.
  • Computer proficiency, especially in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data analysis tools.
  • This position is open for Bangladeshi nationals only.

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of climate change adaptation, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable farming systems.
  • Familiarity with agroecological practices, soil and water management, and crop diversification approaches.
  • Knowledge of community-based development, livelihoods programming, and value chain dynamics.
  • Understanding of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks and data collection methods.

Skills:

  • Technical skills in agriculture extension, farmer training, and field-level facilitation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, documentation, and reporting using MS Office and digital tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities for engaging farmers, local partners, and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and adaptive planning skills to address climate and field-level challenges.

Educational Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Agriculture (Agronomy/Horticulture/ Agroforestry/Plant Pathology and others), Forestry, Natural resource Management or any relevant subject.

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 1 years of experience in the development sector, including work in
    agriculture, livelihoods, and climate change. Prior experience in climate
    change adaptation and the agriculture sector will be considered an added advantage.
