Job Purpose: The position will lead the divisional implementation of agricultural and insurance initiatives by coordinating field operations, engaging stakeholders, and supporting farmer outreach. The role ensures timely delivery of project activities, strengthens the capacity of field teams, and promotes safeguarding standards. It also fosters strategic partnerships with public and private entities to enhance smallholder access to crop, livestock, and fisheries insurance, contributing to sustainable agricultural development and resilience. |

Divisional Sector Specialist, (Agriculture & Insurance); Microfinance Programme
Job Description:
- Coordinate, manage, and support field teams to facilitate efficient execution of different agriculture initiatives and microinsurance product and service-related tasks.
- Develop detailed implementation plans and schedules in consultation with the microinsurance and agriculture initiatives teams and relevant partners/stakeholders.
- Identify and engage external farmer groups to participate in agricultural and other non-life insurance initiatives including Crop insurance, Livestock insurance, Fisheries insurance and Fire insurance.
- Maintain strong liaison with relevant insurance partners including public and private agricultural entities, and support field visits by delegates.
- Build strategic relationships with private sector actors and similar projects to expand farmer enrollment in insurance products.
- Oversee day-to-day project operations including delivery of agricultural insurance and other non-life insurance products, awareness campaigns, marketing and capacity-building activities.
- Support pilot testing and ensure delivery of support services such as agricultural inputs, weather updates, and market linkages to smallholders.
- Monitor field activities and provide regular feedback to Extension Officers to enhance their performance and conduct field visits to monitor project progress and extension activities
- Assist in planning, designing, and reviewing project activities, and contribute recommendations for innovation and enhancement.
- Prepare reports including FGD (Focus Group Discussion) summaries and analyze data for project evaluation and improvement.
- Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops for field teams and stakeholders and support continuous learning and capacity development of field staff.
- Manage project expenses and oversee financial and administrative operations at the field level.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

Requirements |
|
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s in any relevant subject (preferably in Agriculture/ Agri. Econ/ Agri. Eng./ DVM/ AH/ Fisheries) from any recognised university/ institution.
Experience Requirement: Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience.
Additional Job Requirements:
- Understanding of crop, livestock, and fisheries production cycles and challenges.
- Familiarity with insurance products, risk assessment, and claim processes.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor multiple activities across locations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging stakeholders and reporting.
- Ability to guide and motivate field teams toward achieving project goals.
- Flexibility to respond to changing field conditions and project needs.
