To oversee day-to-day operations of the plastic recycling facility, ensuring production efficiency, equipment maintenance, safety, and strict compliance with environmental and statutory regulations. The role will focus on facility management, operational planning, reporting, technical process supervision, and coordination with stakeholders involved in plastic waste management at Cox’s Bazar, including local authorities, community groups, and private sector actors.

Senior Officer, Plastic Recycling Facility Operations and Compliances; Urban Development Programme (Project Staff)

Job Description:
  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of the plastic recycling process (sorting, shredding, washing, pelletizing, etc.)
  • Ensure production targets and quality standards are met consistently.
  • Optimize resource utilization (material, labor, energy).
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in machinery and production lines.
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Assist in installing and commissioning new equipment as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to local and national environmental regulations (Pollution Control Board, EHS norms, etc.).
  • Maintain and update compliance documentation including licenses, permits, and waste tracking records.
  • Conduct routine safety checks and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the quality, logistics, and maintenance teams for smooth operations.
  • Train and guide operational staff on SOPs and compliance protocols.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production and compliance reports for management review.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
    Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements: Diploma/ B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering/ Metallurgical Engineering or relevant discipline from any recognized university.

Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated working experience in engineering field, preferably in plastic recycling, manufacturing, or related plant operations.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic types (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP, etc.) and recycling processes.
  • Familiarity with ETP systems and pollution control norms will advantage.
