Position |
|
Extension Officer; Agriculture Insurance; Microfinance Programme (Project Staff)
Job Description/ Responsibilities: -
- Plan, coordinate, and implement all sorts of project activities to ensure pilot and scale-up of all agricultural insurance (crop, Livestock and Fisheries).
- Conducting the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with farmers and collecting information and data related to major crops, Livestock and fisheries on weather & yield risks during the product design.
- Conduct awareness creation campaigns among farmers for the promotion of crop, livestock and fisheries insurance, provide educational training to farmers and other beneficiaries.
- Conduct training sessions for the purpose of capacity development of branch staff (MF Operations & F&A) on agriculture insurance (Crop, livestock and fisheries) operations.
- Efficiently manage and distribute Agriculture insurance products, handle farmer-enrollment, coordinate premiums collections, and claim settlement process with the support of branch staffs.
- Monitor day-to-day operations of project and its planned activities; Gather feedback related to the products from the farmers and other implementing partners to help refine the agriculture insurance products.
- Work closely with the respective branch staffs, build relationships with farmers & farmers group.
- Provide hands-on technical support to farmers during field visits and as per farmers’ request.
- Work & Liaison with local government, agricultural extension service providers (DAE), DLS and DoF and other stakeholders at field level.
- Build strong relationships with relevant private sector and other like-minded projects for enrolling farmers in Agricultural insurance products.
- Coordination with other Programs (BRAC Seed, IDP & CCP, BRAC AI) team members in the field.
- Prepare progress reports, collect F&A report and other documents at regular basis;
- Support Field Coordinator in planning, designing, reviewing project activities, and providing input for the further improvement of the project.
- Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
- Any other specific areas of responsibility shall be assigned from time to time by the manager and BRAC Head Office Team;.

Requirements |
|
Educational Requirements: Diploma in Agriculture/Livestock/Fisheries from any regonised Institution.
Experience Requirements: At least 1- 2 years of working experience preferably in the field of agriculture, agri-finance, rural microfinance, agricultural input marketing or market development with any renowned NGOs, MFIs, companies or donor projects.
Additional Requirements:
- Practical experience and skills in managing farmers groups & forums, conducting need-based training for farmers, follow up and technical support to the farmers in crop production and climate change adaptation in crops, Agricultural marketing.
- Working experience in agriculture insurance will be highly preferred.
- Experience in collecting field data and preparing project documents.
- Basic computer skills in MS Office, MS Excel and emailing.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills: ability to work in a team; and achieve targets and deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to drive motorcycle and must have a valid driving license.
