BRAC is seeking qualified Senior Sector Specialist, Agriculture Candidates for the USAID funded “Community-led Climate Smart Innovations to Address Climate Change Impacts (UDDOM)” project awarded on March 2024 and expected to run for 5 years.

UDDOM project aims to empower climate-vulnerable communities in Bagerhat, Sunamganj, and Jamalpur districts of Bangladesh to cope with and mitigate the impacts of climate change-induced disasters. By focusing on strengthening local government institutions and providing access to financial resources, crop insurance, and climate-smart agricultural practices, the project seeks to enhance the resilience of both communities and local governance structures. Through initiatives such as “Adaptation Clinics” for climate-smart agriculture, the provision of financial services, and the construction of climate-resilient infrastructure including water facilities and housing, UDDOM integrates proven adaptive solutions with locally developed strategies. Additionally, the project endeavors to improve early warning systems and facilitate early action to better prepare communities for future climate-induced disasters. Over a span of 60 months, UDDOM aims to foster sustainable development and resilience in the face of increasingly frequent and severe climate-related challenges.

  Position  
Senior Sector Specialist, Agriculture, Community-led Climate Smart Innovations to Address Climate Change Impacts (UDDOM); Climate Change Programme (Project Staff)

 Job Description:

  • Ensure technical support to the standing crops, regular field visit and follow-up the activities.
  • Providing Training/Orientation/Refreshers to the programme participants.
  • Dissemination of agricultural technologies to the farmer’s field.
  • Programme participants selection according to the criteria. Preparation of crop cut and cost benefit reports and other project reports.
  • Perform awareness raising and capacity building activities.
  • Distribution of agriculture inputs and materials for climate adaptive agricultural activities.
  • Managing relationships with farmers, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure delivery of the programme outputs at field level.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements: BSc/ MS in Agriculture (Agronomy/Horticulture/Agro-Forestry/Plant Pathology and others) or from any reputed disciplines.

Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum 03 years of working experience in development sector/Agriculture/livelihood/ climate change/advocacy/Local Government Institutions.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Capacity building of the team members
  • Maintain close communication with BRAC Climate Change Programme (CCP)
  • Maintain relationship with other BRAC programmes in the project sites
  • Conduct essential survey and knowledge product development
