  Position  

Community Architect, Urban Development Programme (Project Staff)

Job Description:

  • Regular assistance on community planning, security of tenure, low-cost housing/house design including structural drawing and quantity/cost estimation, community resilience building etc. other activities related to community led low-cost housing intervention implementation.
  • Provide with counseling to the City Development Fund (CDF) leaders, community relevant LGI staffs on step-by-step idea and process of tenure security, low-cost housing, community resilience building adopted by UDP.
  • Coordinate and lead the implementation of community led low-cost house construction activities and other infrastructure related works.
  • Provide guidance to community builders and local UDP staffs in demarcating land/plot area (giving layout on land as per house/infrastructure design) for construction of community houses and infrastructures.
  • Assist HO in conducting Tenure Action Plan for the selected UDP cities and towns.
  • Assess training needs and training module development for capacity building of urban local government officials/representatives, CDF and CDO members, UDP local level staffs and local community builders on low-cost quality house/infrastructure construction techniques, selection and procurement of quality construction materials, concepts of resilient house/infrastructure construction etc.
  • Conduct surveys, stakeholder consultations, in-depth interviews, key informant interviews, FGDs and other tools for collecting qualitative and quantitative data related to the activities.
  • Assist in preparation of Community Map and Settlement Improvement Plan (SIP) through participatory approaches and provide assistance to interpret it using GIS mapping technique.
  • Monitor the CDF, CDO and community activities including house construction as per design.
  • Review and provide necessary feedback with Graphical Drawing Support (AutoCAD) on house design prepared by community.
  • Regular monitoring of progress and quality, progress reporting and process documentation of the work.
  • Assist the M&E team to develop appropriate indicators and monitoring tools to monitor and evaluate the activities.
  • Any other works related to the thematic area that are requested by the community organizations and programme management
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements: Bachelor / Masters in Architecture from any recognised university / institute.

Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum 01 year of experience in relevant field.
  • Candidates must have the skill of house layout design and drawing by using AutoCAD software. Skills in the use of GIS will be an added advantage..
