  Position  

Officer, Microbiology; Water Sanitation and Hygiene Programme (Project Staff)

Job Description:

  • Monthly work plan preparation and implementation in accordance with the plan.
  • Daily / weekly monitoring of water to ensure safe water at schools that meets WHO standards for human consumption
  • Organise awareness and education campaigns on best practices in handling of water households
  • Carry out regularly the water quality testing and other relevant analysis and report immediately if there is any suspect of contamination
  • Ensure the overall Water Quality Laboratory remained functional
  • Monthly inventory of the water quality laboratory supplies and prepare report to the team lead
  • Order the necessary supplies and items that important to keep the laboratory functional
  • Assist the Team Lead in designing water safety planning
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements: Bachelors in Chemistry/ Microbiology from any recognised university/ institution

Experience Requirement: Minimum 1 year of working experience in relevant field

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of water and sanitation issues, and hygiene practice
  • Must have good knowledge on microorganism and microbial analytical job
  • Must have sound knowledge in routine lab analysis
  • Communication skill both in Bengali and English
  • Computer Literacy (MS-Word, Excel, power point etc.)
  • Excellent data collection, data compilation and Sample determinations skills
  • Excellent analytical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Must have ability to build capacity in team members and other stakeholders
