BRAC is in the process of implementing a 3-year long AGNEE (Awareness, Actions and Advocacy for Gender Equal and Safe Spaces for Women and Girls) project funded by the EU. The overall objective of this project is to contribute to protection and promotion of women and girls’ enjoyment of human rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls by promoting sexual harassment (SH) and violence-free public spaces, workplaces and digital platforms.

The specific result areas of this project are:  Enhanced capacity of CSOs to act as a focal  to address SH and GBV in work & public places including digital space; increased community awareness and increased linkages with support services strengthens  access to services; strengthened SH & GBV mechanism at workplaces & public places  contributes to harassment & violence free environment for women; and strengthened SH & GBV mechanism at workplaces & public places  contributes to harassment & violence free environment for women

The project will be implemented in Gazipur and Rajshahi districts through a partnership with Ain O Shalish Kendra (ASK).

  Position  

Project Officer, Road Safety Programme (Project Staff)

Job Description:

  • Organise, plan and ensure timely and quality implementation of all activities as per activity plan
  • Arrange kick-off event at a renowned place of selected Upazilas/ places
  • Arrange action plan development workshop for Transport Sector Association and District Road Safety Committee on prevention of SH and GBV in public transport
  • Assist in development of action plan and conduct follow up meeting with Transport Sector Association and District Road Safety Committee.
  • Listing the roadside educational institution (EI) of selected Upazilas/ places
  • Facilitate the formation of Sexual Harassment Redress Committee (SHRC) at Educational Institute (EI’s)
  • Conduct awareness sessions on GBV and Sexual Harassment with different target groups
  • Conduct Follow-up meetings with students, teachers, parents, SMC and governing body of local educational institutions on prevention of sexual harassment/ cyber violence in public transports
  • Arrange Civil Service Organization (CSO) training on SH (physical, verbal, psychological and cyber) and violence at public spaces, workplaces and digital platforms.
  • Raise awareness with public transport users on Gender Based Violence (GBV), and Sexual Harassment (SH)
  • Conduct campaign in different locations especially places such as terminals and stoppages where a large number of public transport users gather 
  • Actively engaged with transport sector association leaders, helpers and drivers to implement the action plan
  • Carrying out mike campaigns in terminals, stoppages and inside public transports using canvassers and transport workers.
  • Prepare monthly MIS and other necessary reports
  • Liaison with officials at upazila level; i.e, UNO, Upazila Education Officer, Upazila Maddhomik Education Officer, Local influential Community leader, UP Chairman, school management committee, teachers, leaders of local NGO/CBOs.
  • Other necessary tasks assigned by the supervisor/management.
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements: Bachelors in any discipline preferably in Social Science/ Science/Business Administration from any recognised university/ institution

Experience Requirement: Having at least 3 years’ experience in project activities implementation preferably road safety.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Concept on road safety and prevention of sexual harassment, gender based violence and cyber violence
  • Working effectively with Government offices, INGOs etc.
  • Effectively implementation of project activities
  • Capacity building of beneficiaries e.g. teachers, SMC, CSO, transport members etc.
  • Facilitation (meeting, field level workshop as well as training sessions)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and convincing skills
  • Flexible, pragmatic and solution oriented
  • Work effectively with Govt. offices/NGOs/CBOs
  • Computer proficiency specially MS Office and Internet Browsing
