BRAC Microfinance Programme, in association with Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) and further organizations, has recently launched a project titled, ‘Boosting Agriculture Risk Mitigation through weather Index Insurance for Smallholder Farmers in Bangladesh’. The ultimate goal of the project is to increase resilience among smallholder farmers against climate risks. The objective of the project is to protect livelihood and de-risk smallholder investment to improve their farming through introducing affordable and sustainable weather index based crop insurance solution. This initiative will be backed with viable tech-based and innovative solutions to facilitate efficient policy administration, contract monitoring, digital underwriting & claims management, and extend weather forecast and agro advisory services to the farmers; using automated weather and satellite data.  The project is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC) and the InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF). The organisation is currently looking for a suitable candidate for this project to fill up the following position.

 

Position

 

Finance & Administrative Coordinator, Agriculture Insurance Project, Microfinance (Contractual)

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Project Finance & Accounts

  • Manage project’s day-to-day cash needs, transfers, payments, reviewing/processing invoices and ensure that project expenditures are adequately tracked according to the agreed project budgets;
  • Oversee day-to-day coordination of financial activities ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and reports for tracking expenditure and prepare accurate financial reports in a timely manner as required by the project;
  • Reconcile project expenditure with Organizational accounts and donor, keep relevant officials and units informed of incoming and outgoing funds ; 
  • Provide other supports, as requested, to Project Lead, project staff, organizational units in financial management of the project.
  • Facilitate the work of internal and external audits and ensure that financial records are properly maintained and readily available during audit.
  • Contribute to developing work plans and annual budgets for project activities and field office cost.

Project administration

  • Provide general administrative support to the project- maintain documentation records, schedules and details of project financial transfers and payments; support the preparation of partners/stakeholders contracts and liaising with partners/stakeholders on specific administrative requirements;
  • Maintain a schedule of internal and external reporting deadlines, and ensure that the donor reporting requirements of project related contracts are fulfilled in a timely manner, and that all necessary information required for reports is received from the internal and external partners on time;
  • Support project staff in the preparation and implementation of project activities.

Logistic support

  • Provide logistical supports to the project, including procurement of goods and services; staff recruitment; arranging trainings, workshops, meetings and events; contracts development; management and maintenance of project inventory; etc.
  • Undertaking other duties from time to time as may be required by the project.
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, and Accounting, or relevant field from any reputed educational institute.

Experience Requirement:

At least three to five years experience in finance and accounts field; relevant experience with donor funded projects will be highly preferred.


Additional Requirements:

  • Job experience with multi-partner project/s will be an added advantage.   
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning and management, administration, logistics and procurement of projects.
  • Good understanding on financial software applications, databases and spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of implementing finance and accounting policies, procedures and systems.
  • Sound skills in facilitation, team building, communication and coordination with demonstrated experience in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English and Bangla
