Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) is an activist women organization founded in 1986, working to establish gender equality. It strives to develop women agency at the grass-roots and contribute bringing their voices to national, regional and international levels. BNPS has been working in 12 districts of the country including Cox’s Bazar. Major focus of the organization is social, economic and political empowerment of women, preventing VAW/G and child marriage, strengthening local government, education reform, gender budget analysis and policy reforms for gender equality.

Title: Prevention Officer (Rohingya response)

Job Context

Applications are invited from the candidates of Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar districts.
The Prevention Officer`s primary function is to execute quality implementation of the prevention and protection of Gender-based Violence (GBV) in Rohingya camps and surrounding host community in Cox`s Bazar. The Prevention Officer will be responsible for conducting training of adolescent girls, boys, women and men in the camp and host communities.

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of Project Coordinator at the same time to M&E Officer the Prevention Officer is responsible for:

  • Conduct survey to identify adolescent girls, boys, women and men for training on GBV, SRHR, and gender equality.
  • Conduct training following Girl Shine curriculum.
  • Assess the training outcomes.
  • Link the GBV victims with appropriate institutions for counseling and treatment.
  • Reporting as per prescribed forms.
  • Should have bilateral relationships with other agencies to get support.
  • Maintain effective contact with all the stakeholders in the community e.g. community leaders, imams and Majhis in camps and host communities.

Employment Status

  • Full-time; 6 month contract, renewable based upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
  • This is a 06 month project starting from November 1, 2021 with a possibility of extension for a long time.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor degree

Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 4 year(s) on women empowerment, GBV, MHM, SRHR and protection in Rohingya humanitarian crisis.

Skills Required

  • Basic knowledge on protection mechanism, peace building and conflict transformation & management.
  • Basic knowledge on computer operation, Excel, Spreadsheet in computer and use of web-based real time data entry software.
  • Understanding on local language, communication language on local accent (vocabulary) with Rohingya community.
  • Willingness to travel hard to reach areas and extra-hours of work.

Additional Requirements

  • Age 27 to 35 years

Job Location: Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar

Salary: BDT: 37,000 - 38,000 (Monthly)
