Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Socio-Economic Development Consultancies

The USAID Bangladesh Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Activity (BMEL) seeks Bangladeshi consultant experts with the following required qualifications for short-term assignments in July-September 2019:

1. One (1) Senior Natural Resources Management (NRM) Governance Specialist: (50 working days, July-Sept 2019)

  • Post-graduate degree in NRM, environmental science or a related field
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in policy development and reforms associated with NRM (e.g., land tenure, wetland leasing, and community revenue sharing) and agriculture
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in environmental governance, particularly community-based management (CBM)
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience of conservation and development projects, including institutional and policy approaches and financial approaches such as government-community co-management and revenue sharing, endowment funds, fee for environmental services, and private sector partnerships
  • Experience working with national and local governments
  • Experience with assessments or program evaluations
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English

2. One (1) Socio-Economic Development Expert: (50 working days, July-Sept 2019)

  • Post-graduate degree in anthropology, sociology, development studies, economics or a relevant field
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in community and livelihoods development associated with Natural Resources Management (NRM), particularly market-driven livelihood approaches, with agriculture/fisheries and non-agricultural livelihood activities
  • Proven experience in analysis and research in the field of community development and socio-economic study, specifically in NRM
  • Strong knowledge of Bangladeshi institutions working specifically in the NRM sector, including grassroots organizations, donor agencies and relevant Ministry partners
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English
