Senior Officer (Programme) - Human Rights Due Diligence
Job Context:
Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies-BILS is the only labour institute of the country. As an
apex organization, BILS endeavors to uphold the rights of working people and trade unions
in Bangladesh.
Senior Officer- Human Rights Due Diligence will work under the BILS-MFNV project. The
position is accountable for contributing to implement BILS Effective Social Dialogue for
Decent Work in RMG Industry project not limited to Human Rights Due Diligence components
but also overall project intervention throughout the project tenure.

Job Description / Responsibility :
- Assist Director and Project Coordinator in all aspects of project implementation.
- Preparation of different ToR and contracts to conduct any study/research and hire the
consultant (s) for implementing the activity.
- Support Trade Unions and BILS Leaderships to prepare any documents, presentation on
subject matters about the RMG workers classical issues as well issues on project.
- Follow-up communication with Trade Unions, Government, Brand & Buyers,
International bodies, CSO’s, experts, consultants for successful events and issue based
national advocacy.
- Prepare the activity report, periodic and final narrative reports with financial statement on
the projects field program and assist to prepare final report.
- Prepare the training manual and develop the materials for facilitating the training event as
per project guidelines.
- Preparing activity-based concept note, invitation, programme briefing, agenda and
schedule.
- Preparing activity wise budget and managing the same with close communication with
AO and approved by PC.
- Event organizing and management (Seminars, National Dialogue, workshops and
Roundtable).
Drafting and coordinating publications for the project (Poster, Booklet, Brochures, Flyers, and Leaflets etc.)
- Report writing (periodic and final reports on the projects for Donor, PAC, BILS
Management, workshop/seminar reports etc.)
- Identify best practice/ case story collection, documentation and prepare periodical activity
report
- Prepare the documents for BILS Social Media Campaign and Networking on Human
Rights Due Diligence -HRDD issues
- Representing BILS in different forums and meetings at local level, national and
international level.
- Any other task/ assignment from the BILS Management
Job Nature:
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s Degree from any recognized University, preferably in Development Studies,
Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, International Relations,
Journalism/ Media, English, or any other relevant subject in Social Sciences.
Experience Requirements:
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience is required particularly on labour sector
- Sound understanding of RMG workers’ wellbeing and rights issues particularly focused on national and international instrument
- Clear Understanding about Human Rights Due Diligence, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, OECD Guidelines, ILO MNE framework.
- Sound understanding on labour rights and trade union in Bangladesh
- Excellent verbal communication skill on English
- Excellent writing skill both in English and Bangla
- Have competencies on community mobilisation activities facilitation and management
- Have sound skills on team management
- Proficient IT Knowledge (MS Office : Particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint,
- Excel), Internet, Dropbox, Google Docs
- Have sound communication and reporting skills
- Good interpersonal skills and good team player
