Background 

Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, livelihood, health, WASH, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

BDRCS, under its Population Movement Operation (PMO), has been providing humanitarian services since 2017 for the displaced Rohingya people from Rakhine state of Myanmar who have been sheltered in different camps under Ukhiya and Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar. Currently BDRCS is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position under PMO, Cox’s Bazar:

Job title : Clinic Assistant.
Duration of contract : Up to 31.12.2023 (Possibility of extension)
Organizational Unit/Department : PMO, BDRCS/Health Post
Service status  : PMO, BDRCS
Salary Range : 40,722/-
Number of Post : 1 (one)
Reporting line : Medical In-charge.
Age Limit : 35 years (may be relaxed in case of outstanding candidates)
Duty station : Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar

Educational Requirements:

  • B. Pharm (From Reputed University.)

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 2-year(s) experience on pharmacy/ dispensing work

Job Responsibilities:

  • Dispenser will be responsible for medicine dispense according to prescription of the doctors.
  • Dispenser will be responsible for medicine stock/inventory management of the assigned health facilities.
  • Keep records for medicine consumption update registers/log regularly.
  • Monitor & keep record of temperature and humidity for medicine warehouse/store.
  • Provide beneficiary-friendly services, strictly maintain confidentialities of medical information, ethical standards, and healthy working environment.
  • Assist in ensuring quality assurance in medicinal and supply management.
  • Monthly/ timely prepare & submit purchase request, maintain buffer stocks, take timely measures to avoid stock-out.
  • Prepare request & collect medicine from Medicine warehouse on regular basis.
  • Keep track of expiry of medicines and supplies & dispose as per guideline/ policy.
  • He/she will be held responsible for asking the In-charge/doctor/midwife if any clarification is required regarding prescription types and dosage.
  • Pharmacist Assistant must educate the patient on how and when to take the medication, any potential interactions with common foods, herbal remedies or over-the-counter medicines and any side effects the patient may experience.
  • Will be held responsible for ensuring organization of the Pharmacy and that all drugs are kept in appropriate drug class trays and properly labeled.
  • Assist & give priority to vulnerable group of people (women, children, disable etc.) if required.
  • He/she must always keep the Pharmacy clean and neat.
  • Prepare & provide monthly consumption, in-out report.
  • Will conduct any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work harmoniously within a team and under stress.
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, hardworking, and flexible regarding work hour.
  • Fluent in Bangla and basic English.
  • Capacity to communicate in Rohingya/Chittagonian language is required.
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
  • Adhere to the 7 fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
  • Act always in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
  • Able to work in a team and respects opinions of others.
