Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 54 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building, climate change adaptation and community resilience programs and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) under the MACP Responsive Grant Project in collaboration with partners such as the American Red Cross, promotes heat-health resilience, and locally led climate adaptation across Urban communities in the coastal belt. We are seeking applications from potential qualified Bangladeshi nationals for the following position:

Purpose of the Position
The Program Officer will support effective planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities under the DCRM Department. The position combines programmatic, technical, administrative, and coordination responsibilities to ensure smooth project execution and high-quality field-level results. Implement field-level activities in collaboration with BDRCS Units, local authorities, and youth groups to promote locally led heat-health and climate resilience actions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Implementation & Coordination:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute field-level project activities as per the approved work plan.
- Facilitate community-based interventions, including climate adaptation, heat-health awareness, and nature-based solutions.
- Ensure close coordination with BDRCS Units, local authorities, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Arrange logistics for meetings, field visits, workshops, and training sessions.
- Maintain project calendars and ensure timely follow-up on activity schedules.
2. Capacity Building & Awareness:
- Conduct orientations, trainings, and workshops for volunteers, youth, and stakeholders.
- Organize awareness campaigns, youth summits, and seminars promoting urban resilience and environmental sustainability.
- Support community mobilization and participatory approaches to enhance local ownership of project activities.
3. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation:
- Collect field data, maintain accurate documentation, and support monitoring of project progress.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports, field visit notes, and meeting minutes.
- Track budget utilization and assist in preparing financial summaries and activity reports.
- Maintain records of project activities, decisions, and lessons learned.
4. Communication & Representation:
- Liaise with BDRCS Unit Executive Committees, local government representatives, and media for project visibility.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination with the British Red Cross and other stakeholders.
- Represent the project in coordination meetings, workshops, and stakeholder events as assigned.
5. Other Duties:
- Work in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
- Actively contribute to achieving BDRCS’s organizational goals.
- Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or management.
PERSON’S SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Geography & Environment, Development Studies, or related Social Sciences.
- Master’s degree will be given preference.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in project implementation, community engagement, climate change adaptation (CCA), disaster risk reduction (DRR).
- Experience working with national or international development organizations; experience with Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement preferred.
Skills & abilities:
- Strong understanding of DRR, and CCA concepts and implementation practices.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills (in both Bangla and English).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work under pressure when required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Bangla and English.
