The Red Cross-Red Crescent Movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971, is the biggest humanitarian organization in the country. As an auxiliary to the government in terms of providing the humanitarian assistance, BDRCS has been working to prevent and alleviate human suffering through rendering humanitarian services in partnership with local authorities and communities across all the districts of Bangladesh through its 68 branches and dedicated network of volunteers, in line with the international humanitarian standards and adhering to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. BDRCS activities include humanitarian response, Climate Change Adaptation, disaster management, health and wellbeing, capacity building and promoting Red Cross/Red Crescent ideals and principles.
Currently, under the “Pathways to Healing: A survivor Centered Approach to Address Violence and Human Rights Violations in Bangladesh”, BDRCS is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi candidate for the following position:

Job Purpose |
The Project Manager (P2H Project) will lead the implementation of the EU-funded “Pathways to Healing: A Survivor-Centred Approach to Address Violence and Human Rights Violations in Bangladesh” under the supervision of the Director of Health. The role ensures effective delivery, financial stewardship, compliance with EU and IFRC standards, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The position is based at BDRCS NHQ and requires regular field visits across project locations. |
Job Description/ Responsibilities-
1. Project Implementation and Progress Monitoring:
- Manage end-to-end implementation of the EU-Funded P2H project under the supervision of the Director Health and in coordination with partners.
- Supervise Project Officers and ensure their roles are executed as per the project proposal
- Performs health and livelihood needs assessments and mapping for the project guided by the outcomes and activities.
- Ensure delivery of awareness and advocacy activities with technical support from partners.
- Implement activities efficiently and effectively in line with the approved workplan and logframe.
- Maintain detailed records of completed activities and develop activity plans to ensure timely implementation.
- Conduct regular coordination meetings with IFRC and BDRCS team members to review progress and plan upcoming activities.
- Create a positive team environment to maximize performance and collaboration
2. Financial Management
- Manage BDRCS project finances ensuring eligible expenditure and sound financial control.
- Ensure timely submission of cash forecasts, requests, and settlements to IFRC.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation including procurement files, invoices, and staff contracts.
- Ensure effective utilization of project budgets aligned with program goals.
3. Coordination
- Coordinate effectively with IFRC, Partner National Societies (PNS), DGHS, and other external stakeholders.
- Work in close collaboration with the IFRC Project Manager to ensure alignment and coordination across consortium activities.
- Represent BDRCS in internal and external meetings, technical and coordination forums.
- Facilitate joint monitoring visits with partners and government stakeholders.
4. Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit monthly implementation updates and quarterly narrative reports for technical review, ensuring timely submission to IFRC in line with agreed deadlines.
- Coordinate and conduct regular joint monitoring visits with partners to assess project progress, identify gaps, and implement improvements as needed.
- Contribute to strategic planning processes, including the Unified Plan, operational plans, and reporting, by providing technical input relevant to the area of responsibility.
- Ensure systematic documentation, evidence collection, and reporting of project activities in compliance with agreed timeframes.
- Support and facilitate donor visits, ensuring proper coordination and presentation of project achievements.
5. Compliance and Cross-Cutting Themes
- Ensure compliance with EU and IFRC rules and procedures including procurement and audit readiness.
- Operationalize cross-cutting standards including Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA), Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI), and green response.
- Run Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanism (FCRM) and ensure “do no harm” and survivor-centred approaches.
6. Risk Management
- Identify and manage programmatic, financial, and reputational risks.
- Escalate issues to the Director of Health and IFRC as required.
7. Leadership and Capacity Development:
- Develop/ Provide regular technical support with guidelines and SOPs on project’s component.
- Build capacity as per project need.
Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
Education requirements:
- Candidates having a degree with MBBS.
- MPH.
Experience requirements:
At least 07 years working experience in the field of Health programmes. Knowledge on project planning & budgeting, supervision and management to include monitoring and evaluation. Experience on Project Proposal writing and managing EU funded projects. Working experience in the field of emergency response context is an advantage.
Skill requirements (in addition to the above-mentioned):
- Knowledge on Disabilities and conflict situation is preferable.
- Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word processing, email and internet).
- Skilled in training, mentoring and coaching individuals and groups, as appropriate.
- Highly motivated, self-starter able to lead a process, engage others and create ownership.
- Flexible and willing to deal with ambiguity, changes, and challenges.
- Able to prioritize work, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Willing to travel and operate in a demanding working environment.
