VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Background:

Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh and provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people as an auxiliary to the government. Over the last 52 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, like disaster management, shelter, health, WASH, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), in collaboration with IFRC and PNS, implements comprehensive health projects in Cox’s Bazar to enhance the health and well-being of displaced individuals and host communities. These initiatives aim to reduce morbidity and preventable mortality by prioritizing maternal and child health through family planning, pregnancy care, newborn care, vaccinations, and non-communicable disease (NCD) management. Aligned with health sector priorities, the projects provide curative and preventive healthcare, community health messaging, and services such as Clinical Health Services, Community-Based Health and First Aid (CBHFA), and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). Key interventions include the construction and equipping of Field Hospitals, Primary Health Care Centers, Mother and Child Health Centers, and Health Posts, thereby strengthening community resilience and ensuring improved access to essential healthcare services.

Under PMO operation, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS implements a project “Improving and scaling up the Quality of Health Services in the Field Hospital for Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh. The interventions include Provision of comprehensive healthcare services including 24/7 emergency case management, OPD IPD laboratory services and Psychosocial support, expansion of SRH services by establishment of Gynae and Obstetrics units, including Epidemic Preparedness response Center (EPRC) for early detection and rapid response to any epidemics.

As part of the agreement between BDRCS & QRCS, BDRCS Field Hospital needs a Medicine Specialist .
Currently BDRCS is looking for following position under PMO, Cox’s Bazar,

Job title : Medicine Specialist.
Service status : Contractual.
Number of Post : 01 (One).
Salary Range : Negotiable (up to BDT. 150,000/- monthly consolidated).
Duration of contract : Initially 01 year (with possibility of extension).
Organizational Unit/Department : PMO, BDRCS/ Field Hospital.
Reporting line : Health & PSS manager.
Age Limit : 40 years (may be relaxed in case of outstanding candidates).
Duty station : BDRCS Field Hospital, Ukhiya.

Educational Requirements:

  • Completed MBSS degree with updated BMDC registration.
  • FCPS/MD/Diploma in Medciicne.
  • MBBS with PGT certificate.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in hospital emergencies, special reference will be given in working under Rohingya Response.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and admission of patients during emergencies such as natural disasters, disease outbreaks by proper history taking and physical examination.
  • Work closely with triage teams to prioritize care based on severity and resource availability.
  • Develops emergency preparedness protocols and response plans (e.g. Epidemic or pandemic response, natural disaster etc.).
  • Ensure the availability and readiness of emergency medical supplies, equipment, medicine and other relevant logistics.
  • Develop monthly plan of EPRC activities.
  • Maintain proper coordination between other hospitals, emergency services, WHO Health sector Cox’s bazar, CS Office, UHFPO Office, and NGOs during emergencies.
  • Provide expert advice on infection control, disease prevention, and community safety.
  • To provide for appropriate investigations and appropriate treatment and to keep clear, accurate, medical records about the relevant clinical findings of infected disease.
  • Contribute to real-time situation reports, EWARS notification, briefings, and communication with stakeholders when needed.
  • Responsible for inpatients round every day before, and fill in the case sheets and progress notes & all the necessary documents
  • Monitor and interpret epidemiological data to detect early signs of outbreaks or public health threats.
  • To be part of IPC training programs conducted in the hospital and to take continuous initiatives for knowledge and skill upgradation.

Additional Requirements

  • Additional training or qualification in relevant discipline will get preference.
